Um... considering that appears to be at least a Cruiser build, it could handle it. It just couldn't actually get through the acceleration gate.

Yup, you need a frigate or destroyer class of ship to get into them. And be prepared to play camping games against the Russians who seem to perma-camp them in the last room.
