Question about "warp to"

Havent had much experience with guns so I'm not sure how this works. Is there any point having an optimal above 150km. Can neuts/reds warp to you at this range or can it only be done on celestrial objects?

Main question, is there any point me having a 253km optimal on my naga?

Thanks

If they get a warp-in, which can be: a cloaked or uncloaked fleetmember behind you, a wreck, a jetcan, a bookmark near you. They can't simply click on one of your ships and then warp-to. A covops with combat probes shouldn't need much time at all to scan one of you down, warp nearby, and then provide a warp-in.

I can't speak to that, but if you ever fight in deadspace pockets then you fight in an environment where the enemy can't warp around on grid or get a warp-in to you. Or if you're aligned and have prepared multiple bookmarks of your own, you can warp to the next one when you see someone warping up to you. Or if you're not the scariest ship on the field, you can be able to provide DPS to every primary target for the entire fight and then win/flee before the enemy gets around to dealing with you.

1) You are limited to a maximum locking range of 249km. I believe this is a hard-coded dealing with grid dimensions.
2) Enemies can not warp to you, even if you are further than 150 km away unless they probe you out and warp to the signature.
3) If you are 150km away, the other pilot will warp off long before you kill him with your 253km rail Naga, unless your friend is holding him down
4) If you friend is holding him down, bring your naga into about 70km so you can do a hell of a lot more DPS and kill your target faster.
5) Sniping is now a 90-110km game, to maximized deeps and minimize chance of warp ins. Still takes some care as fast inties can burn at 9km a sec...
