Help with L4 mission setup for an Abaddon

I cannot seem to find a setup on my Abaddon that i am happy with. I can only get it to have a healthy capacitor usage if I either gimp dps or tank. Its not as if I am badly skilled either, I have all the armour repair skills at 5, the specialisations at 4. My battleship gunnery skills are almost max, both pulse and beam spec at 4 and all skills like surgical strike, etc are at 5. Capacitor skills to are all max, Energy Grid upgrades, Energy Management, Energy System Operation and Controled Bursts. Unless I am missing some skills that I cant find I think my skillset is fine.

I am having to either warp out and back in or take forever doing the mission. Some missions I just cannot do (Blockade, cannot kill the elite cruisers fast enough before cap runs out.)

I am only skilled in amarr ships up to Marauder. I can afford a marauder but I could not replace it if it went boom so that is not an option. How much better would a Navy Apoc be over the Abaddon? If anyone has a good lvl4 abaddon setup I would appreciate any advice.

why don't you link your fit......but as a thought - do you use cap boosters or mods to improve your cap recharge ???

Current Setup

8x Mega Pulse Laser 2

1x Tracking Computer 2 (Tracking Speed)
2x Cap Recharger 2
1x Heavy Capacitor Booster 2 (800)

3x Heat Sink 2
1x Large Armour Repairer 2
2x Em Hardener 2
1x Thermic Hardener 2
(Hardeners vary according to mission)

2x Large Capacitor Control Circuit1
1x Auxillary Nano Pump 1

DPS 716 with scorch 1003 with Conflag (not inc Drone damage)
EHP 36k
920 Armour Repair Rate.

I can carry about 15 units of the cap booster and that is quite often not enough. With this setup I kill things pretty quick but it eats cap like crazy and I always have to warp out of all bar the easiest of lvl 4's due to failing tank.

The abaddon doesn't do cap stable you should use a booster your fit should do about 1000dps with scorch and drones. That dps is your tank. Manage triggers and only use the rep at about 50% armor so that no rep is wasted only use cap boosters when you are at 20-25% cap so that the capacitor is close to peak regen at all times. This should sort you out.

Also replace the CCC rigs with discharge elutration 2 rigs they are cheap and much more effective for how you want to use the Abaddon.

Thanks for reply. Any idea how I would get 1000dps with scorch, I only get an additional 98 dps using infiltrator 2. Only skill I got that increases my pulse laser dps is the specialty which is currently at 4. My drone skills are max for dps bar drone interfacing which is at lvl4.

Problem is once my cap reaches 25% I have to leave the booster running permanently else I run out of cap. I do however prob tend to activate my repairer to soon so will try leave it a bit later, just worried about losing my ship.

1. If you want cap stability, fly a (Navy) Apocalypse.
2. Don't mix cap booster with other cap modules.
3. If you want an active tanked Abaddon, you'll almost certainly need 2 boosters
4. On the Abaddon, large energy discharge elutration T2 rigs are your friend. You'll want at least one of them.

With 4 HS, 2 ogre, 2 hammers and a hob, you'll get 984dps with scorch. Some implants and faction HS's will get you to 1000.

You'll get something like this:

[Abaddon, PVE]

Large Armor Repairer II
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Armor EM Hardener II
Armor Thermic Hardener II

Heavy Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 800
Tracking Computer II, Optimal Range Script
Tracking Computer II, Optimal Range Script
Sensor Booster II, Scan Resolution Script

Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L
Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L
Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L
Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L
Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L
Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L
Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L
Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L

Large Energy Discharge Elutriation II
Large Energy Discharge Elutriation II
Large Auxiliary Nano Pump I

Hammerhead II x2
Ogre II x2
Hobgoblin II x1

Having said this, the Abaddon responds well to pimpage.

OP, I'm sure someone will come on here and critique my following suggestions, but that's ok. Just presenting you with an option that is not cookie cutter for an Amarr missioning Abadon. I missioned for a long time with this Abbadon. I used tachs P It is yes about minimizing cap use even with those cap hungry guns. You cannot get this ship cap stable. Don't try, you do not need it cap stable. However, I hate using pulses in missions, getting tracking disrupted and having to motor after rats. I'd rather just kill them at range.

Ok, iirc how i had it fit:

Highs - 7x Tach, 1x drone link augmentor. I do believe they were meta 4, modulated tachs, for the lesser cap use. I may have moved to Tach IIs at some point. Can't remember been a long time since I ran level 4s in the thing. Used x-ray a lot, less cap use and seemed to put the optimal at the right distance to kill Sansha and BR BSs. Drone link was so that a flight of Infiltrator IIs (which move faster) or Hammerhead IIs could motor out to apply damage sooner than waiting for rats to close on you. Sure an eighth gun would be nice, but I didn't want to have to fit a RCU II. You could go that route and fit 8 guns if you want.

Meds - If you fit an AB for missions with distant gates make it a domination or rf ab (again less cap use) and train fuel conservation and ab to 4 or 5 each. So 1-4 CR II, RF/Dom 100mn AB, Painter or Medium Cap booster or Tracking computer or sensor booster (basically whatever you need to overcome any rat ewar). Usually I was fitting the ab, painter, tracking computer, and one CR. Some folks like to just load CRs though and thus the lows I listed below would need less cap mods.

Lows - DC II, Domination LAR, 2 Domination hardeners (domination mods for less cap use), PDU II, 1-2 CPR II or 1-2 HS IIs. Again you will have to guage how often you think you need to rep.

Rigs - ANP, 2 X CCC

Drones - 5 em or therm medium IIs, 5 em or therm light IIs (don't discount the em drones, their damage is crap but they do get on target quicker and with sansha and brs em is the worst resist).

Usually I would have all the frigs, destroyers and cruisers sniped and then be able to turn to the BSs with shorter range higher damage ammo since they were by then closer. It worked well. Never lost the ship. And, my completion times were not bad imo. Especially on a Blockade the tach setup worked great.

Have fun however you choose to set it up. It is one the best looking ships in the game.Smile

Cheers for the alternative Lili, looks a fun setup. I have most of the gear for Lunkwills suggestion but I am going to buy another abaddon for another area where i mission and may give your setup a whirl.

I didn't post a fit earlier since I was posting from my phone, but basically Lunkwill Khashour fit is what you are looking for. Cheap upgrades to this would be replacing 2 heatsinks with faction heatsinks and looking at some hardwirings. +3%/+5% ROF/Damage and Large turret damage are relatively inexpensive but an excellent way to get a boost.

If you have large Scorch just use an apoc with 4 heatsinks. Its just much easier and allows you to use faction multi most of the time and fit 2 tracking PCs and be almost cap stable.
