Its really funny that people think of them self as consumers. Funny word that.

Also funny that they actually bought Diablo III, and much more funny that they use the RL auction house at all. Should teach them all a lesson in buying into stupidity and greed.

Even more funny thinking that player run auctions should be a reason to not balance the game.

Well, they are definitely consumers in the business sense in that they are paying for an entertainment product and by playing, are consuming the content provided.

I haven't played D3 but I would never spend 70$ on a monocle so I would definitely never spend 300$ on an ingame item. That being said, I feel its worth pointing out there is a marked difference between a 70$ monocle that has no use other than decorating an avatar, and a 300Euro item that has a definite pay2win advantage.

And not that I'd play it, but I despise pay2win. Kind of why I dislike plex, someone can pay to get isk and economically that is winning, but I can live with it because at least there are no actual combat advantages provided.

Oh so its almost identical to plex.

Well now it sounds like Blizzard should have balanced the game before rolling this live AH out.

You know how auctions work? Just wondering, because that player bought it from another player, not blizzard. (Blizzard just happen to take a very nice % of that money.) I guess D3 would be a great game to RMT in, hack an item, sell directly for RL money. Easy.

Also, how can you "consume" content?

All in all I think D3 is a disgusting concept and I am still surprised people actually want to try it. But then again, all the sheeple of the world are raised to be happy little "consumers" with no standards after all, just gobbling up whatever **** they are fed.

What's really sad about it is people are spending that kind of cash on a PVE-only game. There's no competitive edge to be had, just a slight gain in the speed at which you kill the mindless mobs.

What's the point of playing PVE if you're going to just go ahead and spend cash to leap ahead to the best stuff?

I was misunderstood, it sounds exactly like plex, pay2notgrind.

That being said, if you watch a movie you have consumed the content. You can watch it again but for all intents and purposes you have paid for the movie and seen its contents. The exact same is true if you play a game, particularly a pve heavy one, when you explore, quest, and run dungeons and raids you are consuming that content, regardless of its replay value. This is why expansions exist in most mmo's, to provide new content for its players to consume before they get bored and wander off to a new game.

Problem IMO with D3 is that I think it would have been better if Activision did not get their claws into Blizzard.

Ah, I just never use consume in that way. I am old fashioned, and I 'play' a game's PVE content, or enjoy a movie, or think about music I listen to ;)

To me "consume" only represents some marketing jargon that i want no part of (I think it is a devaluing term). "I consume food/drink" is the only way I will use it ;)

'I consume the corpses of my victims' is a fun way to use that word.

I kinda figured that was the way you were using it. I'm ok using a looser definition because I consider a car combusting gas to be consuming fuel. At that point the term defines usage and can then be applied more liberally.

If blizzard would just make a normal diablo without any of the RL cash involved I would have seen it as OK, still just a hack and slash i would not play, but at least not so disgusting.
