This is for small gang with out logi support. 10man or less. The idea is to be a hard tackle and good dps with the focus being on having a solid tank.

Here are the stats.

73,149 ehp
973 dps (with mid drones 844 without)
919 m/s with MWD (not overheated)
Void range is 8-10 Null is 19-24

[Hyperion, New Setup 1]
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Large Armor Repairer II
Large Armor Repairer II
Damage Control II

Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I
Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I
Heavy Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 800
Heavy Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 800
Prototype 100MN MicroWarpdrive I

Electron Blaster Cannon II, Void L
Electron Blaster Cannon II, Void L
Electron Blaster Cannon II, Void L
Electron Blaster Cannon II, Void L
Ion Blaster Cannon II, Void L
Ion Blaster Cannon II, Void L
Ion Blaster Cannon II, Void L
Ion Blaster Cannon II, Void L

Large Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Large Nanobot Accelerator I
Large Anti-Explosive Pump I

Valkyrie II x5
Acolyte II x5
Hornet EC-300 x5

Looking for advice on rigs and wondering if I should keep the magstab or drop it for an exp hardener. Also looking to see if there is a better drone combo.

What exactly are you going to be tackling in a hyperion (especially one without a sensor booster)?

Seriously, the hyperion is bad unless you somehow know you'll be shooting at other battleships (the tracking sucks), and then it's just inferior to several other choices rather than flat out bad.

Don't fly one.

The scan res isn't really relevant as I'm not trying to gate camp. As for tacking, I hit scramed and webbed BCs just fine. Cursers are a little dodgy but not awefule and ya I'm not going to hit a saber or frig. But that's what drones are for.

We normally are outnumbered and don't normally have to work hard to get other gangs to engage. I'd be the fist guy through the gate in a system we know is camped. My job would be jump in, hold on to something expensive that's in range (even if I have to pretend like I'm running back to the gate, and live long enough from the rest of my gang to a. show up and b. kill or chase off the other gang.

I like the hyperion because it doesn't scream bait like a domi does. The only other ship I would consider for this would be an eagle (don't laugh, with an AB fit it's got a great tank).

But it does scream "primary target here" in a gang situation.

The Hyperion has the same reputation as the Myrmidon... that reputation being:

- it's slow
- it doesn't have a lot of buffer
- it has an active tank bonus so it MUST be an active tanker

All this means that people basically see the two ships as "squishy."

All is not lost though. The Hyperion does have something going for it... it's the same thing the Myrmidon has too: versatility. All you have to do is understand that even though certain ships have specific bonuses for specific things, you are not REQUIRED to take advantage of those bonuses. This opens up possibilities.

Option 1:
In a small gang, DPS and mobility are important... so I'd recommend that you go with the "shield-gank" fit Hyperion. Neutron blasters in the highs... MWD, long point, shield extenders, Invul field in the mids... Damage Control, mag stabs, and tracking enhancers in the lows. Rig for better shields or for better gank.
With close to 750 turret DPS and ~30km range using Null ammo, you MELT PEOPLE. And its ~80k EHP and largish drone bay ensure that you won't die to a random frigate/cruiser the same way a Talos will.

Option 2:
For an all-out brawl against high DPS enemies I've been theorycrafting a buffer Hyperion. Haven't tested it out... but based on my experiences with the "Brick Myrm" I'm optimistic**.

The fit goes something like this:
[Hyperion - WannabeAbaddon]

[Lows]
Damage Control II
Centii C-Type Adaptive Nano Plating (it's cheap, only about 10 mil)
Energized Adaptive Nano Plating II
1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I

[Mids]
Heavy Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I (800 charges)
Conjunctive Magnometric ECCM Scanning Array I
Prototype 100MN MicroWarpdrive I
Warp Scrambler II
Stasis Webifier II

[Highs]
Neutron Blaster Cannon II (Caldari Navy Antimatter)
Neutron Blaster Cannon II (Caldari Navy Antimatter)
Neutron Blaster Cannon II (Caldari Navy Antimatter)
Neutron Blaster Cannon II (Caldari Navy Antimatter)
Neutron Blaster Cannon II (Caldari Navy Antimatter)
Neutron Blaster Cannon II (Caldari Navy Antimatter)
Neutron Blaster Cannon II (Caldari Navy Antimatter)
Neutron Blaster Cannon II (Caldari Navy Antimatter)

[Rigs]
Large Trimark Armor Pump I
Large Trimark Armor Pump I
Large Trimark Armor Pump I

[Drones]
5x Warrior II
3x Ogre II

Notes: VERY tight fit... you need Advanced Weapon Upgrades 5 or a 2% powergrid implant. You get about 150k ehp with this bad boy, 200k+ if you spring for Slave implants. The only problems with this fit are that the ship is S L O W and your range to deal any appreciable damage is less than 10km. That shouldn't really be too much of a concern though as that's not why you are flying this particular ship with this particular fit (read footnote below for more details).

**My experiences with the brick Myrm have been mixed. It's slow and it doesn't put out a lot of DPS... however, what it does do well is provide my enemies with a supposedly "squishy" target that usually gets immediately primaried... only to surprise them all with a wall of EHP that wastes their time and ammo and provides my allies with breathing room to deal more of their damage unmolested.

That fit will probably work well enough. I'd drop the mag stab and get as much tank as possible if you're plan is to be bait. I don't know how effective your tank will be against any sizable group but w/e, worth a shot.

I plan on living forever.......so far, so good.

It's funny how a ship with an active tank bonus is still better off buffering due to grid issues even in solo situations. (Apart from pimpage, boosts'n stuff)
