Advice on the Condor

hello there

I am very new to the Eve Universe and i regret not starting a lot earlier, I've been learning as much as i can
about the game but there are still a few things that i have trouble understanding but anyway

i have started as the Gallente but am currently cross training into the Caldari ships and i have a Condor frigate
I've been playing around with several setups but this one has been the most effective so far for me:

High:
Light Missile launcher I --kinetic
Light Missile Launcher I --kinetic
75mm Gatling Gun--Antimatter

Medium:
1MN Afterburner I

Low:
Overdrive Injector I

so far it has been pretty good to me, although i only attack pirates so essentially i only do PVE
I'm just wondering if there is a way to improve over that,

also i am improving engineering and electronics for the CPU and PG deductions

and just to add what distance would you say to fight at with that setup or any new setup proposed, that's one of the
things i am currently having trouble figuring out myself

and if i attack someone in a high sec area how long till the police arrive?

My advice? Get a Merlin (guns) or Kestrel (rockets) as soon as possible.

I don't have much to say on the Condor itself. I don't think I've ever flown one. But I do know about high sec aggression: don't do it. Unless you're at war Concord will smash you in essentially no time at all.

Condor is a cute little ship, but it's quite weak in effective hitpoints (EHP) and it has few weapons.

As was mentioned, getting a Merlin or Kestrel is really the way to go, especially for combat missions.

Kestrel can either be outfitted with rockets, or with light missiles if you have some skills (it's a tight fit to get 4 light missile launchers on there together with other modules if your skills are low).

My first advice is to decide whether you want gunships or missileboats. Reason for that is so you don't have to train up two seperate weaponsystems as that takes alot of time. E.g. skills that increase rate of fire for guns, does not apply to missiles and rockets. So you'd have to train BOTH the fast-fire skill for guns AND the one for rockets/missiles in order to improve.

Pick one and go with that (personally I'm very much in love with the missiles after the new animations).

Here's a route for missiles ships you should aim for if going Caldari:

Frigate: Kestrel
Cruiser: Caracal
Battlecruiser: Drake
Battleship: Raven

And for the gunships:

Frigate: Merlin
Cruiser: Moa
Battlecruiser: Ferox
Battleship: Rokh

As far as mission running goes, the benefit with missileships over gunships is the fact that you can

1) Choose your damage type according to what resist is weakest for the rats you have on each mission,
2) Missiles have very long range, so you can stay outside the range of the pirate weapons and bombard them with missiles, which means you don't need to focus as much on tanking early on.

Here's a setup for Kestrel with missiles. It takes some skills to fit it all, but you can upgrade to Meta3-4 modules to reduce the fitting requirements as all. This is just a T1 fit I slapped together.

Afraid i have to agree, it has no use at all in pve and extremely limited use in pvp, aside from intie training

For low skill pve, use a destroyer. Catalyst is better than Cormorant.

As everyone else said, the Condor is really of limited use in most situations (hopefully Tiericide will correct this problem).

With that said, I've found Condors to be more effective in short range engagements. Swap your missiles for rockets and your railgun for a blaster.

The AB is fine as you want to have good speed (and the ship starts off with pretty decent speed). You can keep the Overdrive Injector if you want, although you may find with that + natural speed + AB, it might be hard to maintain tight orbits around ships. You could swap it out for a Ballistic Control System to improve your rocket damage (assuming it effects rockets in addition to missiles, I can't remember off the top of my head).

The condor, like its 2 counterparts, currently makes for good fast-tackle if you can't fly an interceptor. Past that it's about useless.

Cheap and disposable interceptor trainer. It's like flying a F-38 before jumping into the F-16 (crow/raptor)

The caracal is a nice L2 mission grinder. Fit rapid missile launchers and range tank all the way until you get enough money to jump into a drake.

I still have my old caracal as a missile destroyer, and I have blown some frigs and dessies with it.

Hate to nitpick here but I guess you mean T-38 and not F-38 .... If I recall right F-38 was some submodel of F-35 ... navy version maybe ?

The condor is a cool little ship. I prefer the gallente version, the atron, much more though. They're both very fast and light, but they are not very good for straight combat or npc-killing. They are good for scouting dangerous areas, making quick trips for courier missions or picking up some small items at a trade hub. PVP wise they're good for scouting and applying a warp disruptor. I prefer the atron to the condor because the atron swaps a highslot for a lowslot, is faster, uses guns, and has a drone.

That sounds like a really bad idea

There should be a rather awesome pic here
