In the real world space ships cost much more than monocles.

Yes.. they were. Because allot of those cargoships were converted to troop transports and hospital ships.

Thats why the german admiralty went to Nuremberg as well.

And yet its ironic.. in a world where ship functionality determines cost, that warships are cheaper than commercial merchant ships without armaments.....

In WW2, it was the other way around with warships costing more than merchant vessels...


Eve's problem is an over abundance of extremely cheap and disposable warships.... and an equal amount of asshats willing to throw them headfirst into the Atlantic...


A destroyer or torpedo boat cost much less than a cargo ship. A battleship cost more.

Looking at those prices .... I can buy 3 -> 10 cargoships for a single frigate in American $.

I think CCP need to take a good, long hard look at the mineral requirements for ships. Increase the cost of warships dramatically, for all classes and decrease the cost of industrial/merchant vessels by leaps and bounds.

If a destroyer cost more than a covetor...... those would be awesome days for pricing accuracy vs function.


Just because ship classes share the same name doesn't mean they share the same role.
An EvE frigate is a canoe with a machine gun and an onboard motor. srsly.

An RL Battlecruiser or Battleship is a capital ship (think Dreads and Titans)
An aircraft carrier is (ofc) a Carrier
That would put Cruisers and Amphibious assault craft at the BS level (makes sense considering the variety of ships at that size)
Destroyers and Frigates would fit in nicely with the EvE cruiser class.
Torpedo boats look great for Dessies (tons of damage, nonexistant tank)
Something like this would be most like an EvE Frigate.

Of course, the comparisons aren't enormously valid, because EvE is different from RL, but things start making more sense when you compare things with similar capabilities.

You need a Kayak with a missile launcher. Even upside down they will still hit the target. P
