Looks like I posted my reply to the wrong thread, here it is again:

The blog is total damage control. Lots of folks left EVE, many others reduced the number of active accounts (myself included). Players did hit CCP where it hurts and that's the bottom line. As everyone in business knows; It's a lot less expensive to keep a current customer than it is to find a new one or to convince an former customer to give the company another try.

What happened is that people left EVE and found other things to spend their limited entertainment time on. Now they don't miss EVE at all and won't return no matter how many mea culpa's CCP issues.

CCP is trying to do the only thing they can at this point and that is to increase the mainstream appeal of EVE which will further alienate the original EVE players. Mainstream gamers won't invest years of their time (and money) into EVE though.

Giving the finger to the original EVE players was a huge and immensely costly mistake CCP made and one that may very well sink EVE. I'll keep my one account going cause I literally have years of PLEX available to me, but I don't see myself reactivating my other accounts and I also don't see myself playing this game anymore.

Want to beat the Goons at Forum Warfare? Leave the thread as soon as one of them replies to it and never go back.

I will say thank you when they do something. I won't say thank you for meaningless words.

Apology accepted, Hilmar.

Thank you.

When it comes to EVE, CCP has been stuck in creative and productive limbo for too long and I just find it hard to believe that they are still capable to do something good, and big, for this game. Not any more.

Blog? Yep, just a damage control written in panic because even Hilmar noticed that number of people willing to play and pay for EVE is rapidly going down.

As long as HIlmar and the rest of the folks at CCP remember that the wormhole lifestyle is a perfectly viable lifestyle and shouldn't suffer nerfs due to some disillusioned attempt to "push" people into null that don't want to be there regardless... this will earn my thanks.

Not to be an ass but he doesn't need thanks for a blog. He sounds like he's heard the community and that's enough.

There was alot of people through the years on these forums screaming for WIS and this no doubt fueled CCP when they did finally decide to do it. And that part where he's talking about people wanting to see some kinda bipeds in the game is right too. Alot of people look at Eve say to themselves, 'Yeah, so there's your spaceship, I get it,.. is that it?' No doubt expecting to see some dudes walking around with a phaser on their belt clip or something. But that's not us, or not most of us anyway I don't think. It's just not the game we signed up for.

People don't subscribe to a game in the hopes of what it might become. They are sold on what it is right there and then. I could care less about pairing fancy skirts with space goggles. I want my POS to be some kind of threat to the cap blob that's sieging it. I want to see as many Sansha ships out there as I do Angel. I don't want to see everything dictated by the size of a supercap blob alone anymore. And do we really need to mention engine trails again? You know, spaceship stuff, the game I pulled my wallet out for so many years ago.
