CCP Blew It!

They started out with the best of intentions, to create a create FiS PvP MMO game.

And they did accomplish that.

But they accidentally also created the best FiS PvE game, even if they were not trying, they somehow got a significant number of space PvE people giving them money. People who have no intention of ever PvPing.

Now what?

What can be done to prevent Trammel from ruining Felucca without making CCP give up the PvE sub money, which I don't think they want to do?

This seems like history repeating itself to me.

Can you name a better FiS PvE MMO game? The Old Republic has lots of PvE content but the only flying is a mini-game. Freelancer is supposedly a lot like EVE, but is a single player game.

Eh? No... just no......

It isn't like EVE, it is a multiplayer and single player game and its pretty much dead apart from a few modded to hell and back servers you can only access using direct connects since the worldwide server was shut down years ago.

I'm not sure why one would complain about too much PvE in EVE.. To my knowledge it is possibly the most PvP orientated MMO around (not counting arena games :p).. Everyone essentially plays on a pvp server, and I believe a fair amount of the people doing PvE or other carebear stuff, does it to earn isk to join in on some PvP. Even if they don't, it's likely the profit they make comes from the need to replace things lost in PvP conflicts, or just from people arming themselves for such.

I think it works pretty much as intended, one can't really live without the other.

The game tutorial starts you off shooting red crosses in empire, and sends you on a 50 mission epic arc about shooting red crosses in empire, then a vast proportion of the player base end up shooting red crosses in empire. Even the ones that got into the game to do PvP fall victim to the trap of 'just a bit more training and a bit more money, then I'll be ready to PvP'. It's a very sad state of affairs imo.

So what you're saying is that it's a PVE oriented game that has pvp?

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

Don't kid yourself. There are plenty of full loot pvp mmos out there far more pvp oriented than Eve, like Darkfall and Mortal Online. They just don't have internet spaceships. Eve stands out only because the space sim genre is so lacking of competition. Want to dig deeper, look into Salem, full pvp, full loot, permanent death. You popped? You're biomassed. Game Over.Twisted

You think Eve is all that, when in fact, it has this much of that.Lol

This

But I'm quite sure all the elite pvp fanboys would rather leave if they would loose everything after a kill, hell they can hardly do better than kill noobs gank haulers and mining barges already, and still find ways to cry over and over (see all the "rules" threads it's simply pathetic)

Actually, CCP set out to make a complete sci-fi MMORPG. Never once did they ever limit it to purely flying in space, nor that it would only ever contain pure pvp. The wiki entry for EVE Online says this:

Eve Online Wiki wrote:
Eve Online (stylised EVE Online) is a video game by CCP Games. It is a player-driven, persistent-world MMORPG set in a science fiction space setting.

Eve Online description

If Wikipedia isn't to your liking, you can always ask a Dev or GM for confirmation of what I've said. EVE is not, has never been, and never will be just a flying in space PvP combat only game. Your entire thread is based on poor reasoning and a lack of fact finding on your part, mostly due I think, to personal bias inherent to certain demographics.

Yes you should start a petition to remove all PvE from the game which includes;

ALL Ratting
ALL Missions
ALL Incursions.
ALL the complexes.

Yes I can see how this will make EVE the best game ever.

WTH? I compete against others to clean the best anoms and faster, so I pvp !

Quote:
ALL Missions

No no no and noes !!

When I run missions with my alt I'm competing with someone else for LP's and products I'll put on market, thus competing once again versus another player. This is pvp, and it's real stuff !

Quote:
ALL Incursions.

No! Best fleet takes best rewards so they compete also (not that much I heard say'in these days) vs someone else = pvp

Quote:
ALL the complexes.

Again, if someone is scanning in same system than me I'll be running the highest reward place before him or not, so we're competing, thus pvp

Everything in this game is about PVP, but some just don't realise it.
