After being away a few months, I decided to return because of the upcoming Mercenary Marketplace.

Before I quit I lined up several ships to this purpose, mostly battleships and some shine nightmares. I had pretty much planned out the prices and collateral I would take to get hired, usually it wasn't that much as long as it covers potential loss. I haven't done much PvP in my time, usually because it's bad business, especially when I play mostly alone.
I was seeing the mercenary marketplace as a risk-free (from my isk perspective anyway) quick way to get into some PvP action, but when I logged on today I couldn't find it, it was still showing on the available features of the Inferno 1.0, but then on a search on forums I just find out that it wont even be implemented??

What a great disappointment, and false advertising by CCP.

Guess reading the forums before resubbing didn't occur to you?

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

Nah I double-checked the inferno 1.0 features and it's still there right now if you go look.

Read the wardec ally nerf too. Even when merc marketplace goes up, clients aren't going to use their limited slots before prices go up to the trillions to hire one of you over some huge merc alliances. No pvp work for the little people.Lol

That sounds really disappointing, do you have a link for it?

So lets say, if I can fly a dreadnought, or a thanny, I can't get hired because I'm only 1 person?

This is so bad.

It seems someone put all their eggs in one basket.

When I was in beta I made this small corp called Private Assassins Corp (yea cheesy name I know), the main idea was to hire freelancers and get large contracts with a changing crew.

The game mechanics didnt allow this to work back in the day but with the upcoming changes this could be a possibility. Maybe someone would see the wisdom in taking up my initial idea and adapt it to current mechanics, with all these solo guns out there Im sure some would be interested in a contract based agreement.

CCP gives us alot of tools, k some are broken but you know what, thats only because the devs themselves have underestimated the playerbase. Be someone that suprises us all with the inovative use of said tools, not the one wanting more because you cant make use of the current ones.

Sure, you can. If you can convince someone that hiring you, only one person, will benefit them more than hiring a professional merc corporation with a hundred members. Promotes healthy competition instead of just being able to hire ALL the mercs in the known universe at once.

The thought that this feature may not be pulled off as planned probably should have occurred to you considering...

Or you can join a merc corp.

I know, it's more fun to put your dreadnaught into siege mode by yourself...

Wait. You want to be a solo merc and yet admit that you have very little pvp experience. You want someone to pay you isk so you can learn to pvp on their dime. Are you serious?

What do you have to offer anyone wanting to hire a merc?

Go join faction warfare. Fly frigate and destroyer hulls. You will learn and get pvp experience for peanuts. Once you have good solo skills and can back them up with API verified killboards, you might be able to market yourself to small corps that want to fight off a war dec who just need a small helping hand from an experienced pilot to show them how.

When it comes to PvP, I am like a chiwawa hanging from a grizzley bears pair of wrinklies for dear life.

Wait, why can't you go to the Corporation Window -> Wars Tab -> All Wars Tab and sign up as a merc in wars from there?

Besides the little detail about a lack of experience Roll

It even has a checkbox to filter on corporations looking for assistance, aka mercs.
