Get a better job, or don't use EvEmon at work? Bear

make friends with a sys admin.

Also if using proxies will get you fired, what makes you think using evemon or the like won't?

because EFT is totally fine. it doesn't access the internet (if you disable that feature), and it has no installation.

and ruby, working on it -_-

You either work for the defense department (or contractor), or a really crummy employer.

Have you considered buying a personal laptop / netbook?

proxies are always against company policies, since they allow for unsupervised access to the internet. if you don't realize that, well, maybe you should read your access policy. that said, yes, i work for a company where data security is excessively controlled. my network access is necessarily limited.

i don't own a laptop, unfortunately.

Well then I guess the only solution is to stop goofing off at work. Roll

har! har! worthless post is worthless.

someone sent me a mail about the Ships Skills Planner, which i can't use because i can't access the api to get my skills, and the Mobile Skills Planner, which is a phone app and something i can't use at work. anyone got any other suggestions?

edit: got another mail about evehq, which requires an installation as well.

You can't use your own smartphone at work? Or you do not own one?

Also for the home RPD thing, change the ports it uses at home, and adjust your local RPD clients port used to the same and it should make it past the firewall. Although if proxies would get your fired, accessing an outside network would probably get your fired as well. But I'm not your network admin.

This is true, Aura for your phone is not too bad at all.

i can use Aura, yes, but it's pretty clunky to use, and i'd prefer it to be an application at best.

ezra - tried fotzing with ports already. the protocol itself is disabled, not just the ports.

This is now a choose your own adventure.

Page 1.
What you're looking for does not currently exist.
If you choose to create your own software to fulfill your need, turn to page 4
If you choose to give up an take a clunky option with your iPhone, turn to page 3
If you choose to ask for someone else to write software to fulfill your need, turn to page 5

You have chosen page 4.

You have selected the Way of the Hero.

If you have significant programming and database experience, turn to page 10
If you do not, turn to page 11
If you do not have unlimited free time, regardless of the above, turn to page 12

You have chosen PaperCut. The book runs red in your blood.

Page 12
You do not have unlimited free time. Estimated date of product delivery; June 2015.

Page 11
You do not have the experience to do this project on time or on budget, you learn the equivalent of a 4 year CS degree in 6, but in the process you go insane and are committed, having never finished the project.

Real advice, try a spreadsheet for a subset of the skill system first. Skip dealing with any sort of queue optimization and just focus on being able to find accurate training times of a varied skill queue with user definable mappings. It's going to be ugly and hard to work with.

IFF you enjoyed doing this, go to the next step.

Next step, refine and expand the spreadsheet. Focus on making it easier to work with and more complete.

Once you have it complete and relatively easy to work with, make it look decent.

Somewhere above here, add an API pull. This will require learning about EvE's API system in depth.

Now, park everything you learned on a shelf, because you need to learn how to write code (you've done a TON of programming in the above steps with excel). Pick a language (get advice on which, and you may be limited due to your work computers).

Now, take that learning off the shelf, and build a program that uses the data in a similar way to the excel sheet you made. Only at this point will you likely be able to do queue optimization.

Then, learn to build GUIs and make one for your program. (Optional but Recommended: Release to Public)

Finally, maintain your program as people find bugs and EvE's database changes.

Or wait till Windows 8 gets released and persuade your admin to buy you a license and install it on your machine or make the company buy new HW with Win8 pre-installed.

Why?
Cause Windows 8 has .NET 4 as default and EVEMon runs installation free.

If youve got an iPad you can use EVEuniverse. You can import your skill plans from evemon to it for review. This functionality would be greatly improved if your office had either WIFI or you had 3g as you would have full access to the skill planner and market etc....

Probably not what you were looking for, but I thought I would throw it out there.
