Paypal...

They demand my social security number in order to allow me to continue using their service to pay for my account because they've suddenly decided "We need to KNOW you before you can anonymously send money across the interwebs". I told them to go shove it somewhere relatively inappropriate but eh... CCP needs to start supporting Google Checking services otherwise I might start having issues paying for this game >.<

As in the same google that sells your informations, steals IPs/patents and other ideas and is currently being sued by BT along with a few other companies.

The solution would seem simple, buy plexes with that isk stuff instead ^^

But yeah generally it does suck that they want to map out all your life and behavior.. As Nyx sort of mentioned though, Google is the prime seller of personal information, so that's probably not the alternative you should go for if you value privacy :p

Not so much privacy as my trust in paypal not being dicks and exploiting / selling my information is less than that of my trust in google... Atleast google is honest and admits to selling your information for money. I like knowing I mean something to them. Paypal won't tell me how much they're selling my credit info for, but I keep getting ad mails from their "supporters"

I use paypal for everything, i dont use google for anything, i have never got any bad vibes from paypal, and they instant refund when you buy something on ebay and it doesnt come, called buyer protection. Everyone sells everthing, if you are on the web its sold, you think ccp keeps everything secret, they need advertising money like every other company. If you think any company that willingly tells you they are selling your info is trustworthy anymore than one that say none of your business you are mistaken, google is in more privacy hot water than paypal.

I'd rather side with the honest crook over the one that'll mug you with your back turned. Besides... That's why I stopped playing WoW and buying anything from Blizzard-Activision all together.

Facebook is one of the worst...
I've been with Paypal for years (2001...? 2002?) and have never had issues from them. Sure, they might sell something, but so be it. The services and protections I get from them far outweigh that simple deal. At least they don't claim ownership of everything I put on their site like FB does.

As a seller, I've had issues with paypal where they refund the buyer's money and give me a black mark. And the buyer takes the £100 stuff I've just sold them and legs it. Do I see a penny back? Nopeee.

The person got their money back without them notifying you? Paypal usually starts a petition before anyone gets their money back, and contact the seller first. But if you failed to respond they will close complaint and give buyer their money. Did you take too long to ship or contact buyer, cause sry dude they just dont refund money for the fun of it, they woulnt have any customers if they did that.

Don't forget paypal's method of "dealing" with suspected fakes / replicas.... "or destruction of merchandise as authorized by paypal representative." - Paypal reimbursement center

Because destroying the item instead of returning it is the right thing to do. Next time I'll smash the new blender I bought at Kohl's because it didn't work and insist they give me my money back even though I just returned them a pile of scrap.

I cant wait till we have to pay to breath.

Can you not score a prepaid CC OP? Or does CCP not support this payment method? Im guessing your to young for a bank account? Most dont require you to have money in them either. They are jus happy thinkin eventually you will put money in.

Also, You know your nummers are already "out there" right, Just need to look in the right places. Everythings stored digitally now. Nothing is safe.

I had this problem with pre-paid debit cards when banks changed the rules for international transactions about 1 1/2 years ago. I won't buy the new "international" ones nor use tracked money cards so I pay with plex or don't play.

Google checking is worse...they don't need to ask for your SS number. They already have it and know everything about you. Remember, only dumb people need smart phones. Google wallet is a disaster waiting to happen.

paypal is great, I've no problems with them and I've used them from the beginning both for my company and for ordering from around the world.

Think of what they do: Near instant transfer of money arcorss the globe. I can buy something from Europe, Asia, America and have it shipped the same day. Who here remembers buying something from the back of a comic book in the good ol' days and you had to wait 6 to 8 weeks for delivery. And you had to write a check....and mail it.
