Well, for all the personal attacks on me in this thread, no one answered my question.

Ultimately, do these new forum police, who are Eve players, have control to ban not just a char, but apparently ALL of a player's chars, across ALL their accounts?

Or will they simply pass on suggestions to actual Eve employees, who will examine each situation carefully, before permanently wiping out someone's ability to post?

Never thought I had to quote my self but it's ok.

You're thinking it all wrong.

ISD's can close threads, erase comments out of context or whatever but they can't ban you. This is always GM's job so be a good guy and you take no risk

I have read the 2 new rules that CCP is adding. No attacks against CCP employees, and no posting rumours on the forums.
And of course, the part about how the CCL members have zero ability to ban accounts, and zero access to my personal information.

But the question still remains: Precisely how will this mechanism work? Does a CCL member point a GM to a post, and say "the bad man posted something", and the GM reads it carefully and then decides? Or does the over-worked GM say "Oh man, you CCL guys sure are digging up a lot of bad people on the forums. I simply don't have the time to read all the offending posts. CCL member, I trust you. Just give me the name of the evil-doer and they are history forever."?

And yeah, I stand by my statement before: A certain alliance is notorious for meta-gaming to the extreme. Their leader has started in-game squads to attack bloggers and CSM members to drive them from the game or silence them. To believe that this organization will not try to use this new CCL as another meta-game tool is beyond stupidity.

EVE forums are getting a spring cleaning? Not that it affects me in anyway but good riddance nevertheless. The extreme trolls and baiters and whatnot else that don't know acceptable boundaries can be eliminated for all I care. Maybe the forums will become a tad more pleasant to read then.

Will it be the new eager "volunteers" that CCP is looking for?
And who precisely will these new forum police be?
I think it would be very enlightening once they are all hired to see EXACTLY what corp/alliance they belong to.
I am reasonably certain that a certain 9000 char alliance might, just might, be flooding CCP with apps.
But CCP will never give that info out.

Also, will these folks be going back and retroactively start permabanning accounts for comments made last week, last month ,or last year??

I'm all for the rules on hate speech. Some guy was calling for CCP employees to be hung and shot just a couple days ago. Of course that's BS and has no place on CCP's own forums.

But I'm less sure how I feel about so-called rumor censorship. How does anyone know if a rumor is true? If a CCL member is in a Minnesota basement, and the rumor is about CCP, what qualifies that person to make such a determination? I have pretty liberal views on speech. And I've already noticed a few threads closed for "lack of content" that struck me as curious. Lack of content? It's almost always the same people over and over again writing the same BS half the time in every topic. So if a thread has a certain title and we arrange the responses in a different order, that one's bad? Doesn't seem to make much sense from here.

My understanding is that CCP just wants to clean up its forums to keep them useful as a feedback tool and that stuff gets in the way. And unless trends emerge, I'll accept that. If a comment has nothing to do with EVE, nuke it. If it's threatening, hate speech, nuke it. But GD is like a brainstorming hub. All kinds of randomness gets thrown into the chipper. I'm not a fan of too much restriction on that. You just can't know where a conversation may go in advance and many of these discussions go all over the place. Should a thread be locked because two people get personal for a page of comments? Was that discussion over?

The next response might've triggered an epihany.

Reported for rumor-mongering. (No content == rumor-mongering by default, natch?)

Your rampant paranoia and pedantic whines are truly painful to read. No organization is going to give users the ability to ban users. Period. I'm sure they can request it just like other forums mods, but a GM will have to review it. They aren't just going to rubber stamp those.

One last thing, the majority of us are too lazy to do anything like this, it sounds too much like real work. Why would we suffer through reading more of the textual turds deposited on these forums than we already do? I know I'd quit within a day of moderating any forum with a fraction of Eve's post counts.

CCP has had enough of posters screaming at their devs in forums about questionable game design and questioning whether certain CCP employees' loyalties lie more with specific in-game alliances more than with CCP and Eve.

They are creating a group of volunteer player - moderators called the CCL to "help" GM's track down all these misanthropic posters, and will perma-ban them, plus ALL their accounts, making discourse on the forums a fun, happy place. (edit, I am stating that apparently, only the GM's can ban.)

Anyone who has an active account can volunteer. From the original thread, it appears a single CCP employee makes the decision on what applicants are worthy. The criteria by which someone will be chosen seems somewhat nebulous, but we are to believe it will be completely fair and CCP will only choose people who are completely "fair and balanced" in their views about Eve, and will leave any in-game political views behind them when they decide if a specific post/poster should be brought to the attention of the GM's, who will them ban that char, and all other char's of that poster, from EVER posting on the Eve forums again.

I am asking to know the PRECISE mechanics of how this will work.
Naturally, I am insulted and ridiculed, but no one is answering the question of how this mechanic will work.

I do not expect any of the standard denizens on the forum to know the mechanics.
But I would certainly expect there are multiple people online, be them CCP employees or members of the new CCL, who have read these posts, and DO know the mechanics.

Instead of them answering, I have been threatened by people "reporting me for rumour mongering".

Is there a thread on this or a news report cause this is the first time I heard of this.
Generally when you come out with something like this you post the link for reference so people can actually see what you are talking about.

Your timing sucks.
Already posted above.

Plus, I HAVE read them.
I had no reason to repost the links immediately.

And explain how asking for how a new mechanic is to work is rumour-mongering?

Based on what I am reading the moderators can moderate the forums and that is it.
I would have to presume all Bans and punishments would have to go through an actual CCP employee

These volunteer positions are to help sort out and clean up the forums and get information to CCP and the players when it is needed.
I don't see anything terrible about this, if some start abusing it, it will be a 10 second fix.
Keep in mind they are not CCP employee's, so as stated the powers will be VERY small.
