Factional Warfare: How much will it cost me?

I am deeply fascinated by the factional warfare element of EvE. I noticed the gallente are not doing so hot right now. I aim to change that. However I have a few questions before I make any sort of commitment.

I have Diplomacy trained to level 5, does this mean I can un-enlist at any time and be able to travel anywhere in high-sec uninhibited?

What is the cheapest, least costly way to participate in and enjoy factional warfare? (ie What Ships/Fits/Activities)

What happens if I get pod killed and sent to a station that moments later is no longer friendly? Can I still upgrade my clone or jump clone or set a new home station?

As a 1 girl army, how much can I expect to make iskwise?

Thanks in advance.

You can only enlist if you have a positive standing with that faction. You will get shot by the other faction police if you go in their highsec.

Frigate. Any kind.

Yes.

Depends of how well the faction is doing.

What if I decide I want to stop for awhile, If I leave the navy/war effort will my lvl 5 Diplomacy be enough to allow me to go to high sec space of all factions without getting shot at?

Costs a lot of our members nothing. They get a free ship, insure it, get blown up gloriously in battle, then make money off the insurance. If you're careful with your standings and don't shoot opposite faction rats you should be fine. Personally, it's more fun when you stop caring about that **** though.

So, are you implying that it is possible to take over stations and blow up players or do missions without losing standing with caldari/amarr?

What I asked originally was if Diplomacy 5 gives enough of a boost to my standings that no matter what I do after I leave the militia I will be able to go to high sec places of those factions.

You can allways grind up the status again. Having said that I did a one man invasion of gal space when FW first came about and I am still shoot on sight thereOops

Well if I have to grind statuses up again then that is a deal breaker for me. I want to be able to disengage from that play style on the fly and be able to go back to the way things were...

Do the enemy factions shoot your pod or just your ship?

I see. I don't fly them but they are indeed useful (and annoying). My apologies.

I'm so sad that you didn't get onto the CSM...

Also if you're worried about your standings make an alt and do FW on that., in a frigate.

If you want to have fun in this game usually your isk per hour has to take a little hit.

The cheapest way to participate is to fly in a fleet. You won't get far as a one-girl army.

Yeah, the issue with that is people tend to dislike me. I am really strange and that might discourage people from fleeting with me or trusting me.

The majority of administrative or leadership positions I have been in with eve were only achieved by force of one form or another.
I actually cannot think of a single standing or position I have had in eve that was just given to me out of trust.

One of my questions remains unanswered.

Is it possible to kill my standing and still have enough standing because of diplomacy 5 that I can go to jita and other high sec places of said faction?

If you want to have fun then no. Although you can pilot an iteron through the gate police rather easily.

I was wondering about this myself.

I'm assuming that you can leave the militia and fly through enemy space without getting shot. Would be nice if someone could verify this.

Is it just a loss in standing that effects your ability to do missions and access certian station features, but it doesn't hurt you enough that faction NPC's will be hostile to the point of shooting you if you leave the militia?
