Currently the costs to not increase the longer a war goes on. The alliance I belong to has been war dec's for 6 weeks and the aggresing party has only been spotted online once as it is a one man corp.

Shouldn't the costs increase over time?
Even a 10% increase every 2 weeks wouldn't be bad.

I know you must be trolling, why ...

Well a 1 person corp is easy to deal with.
1 - Just put him on your buddy list
2 - Just find a locator agent and find out where he logged.

Then you know where he is when he logs on and you can either run for cover or wait and see if he shows up.
IF he does just POD him.
And I do mean that, make an alt explicitly for that purpose one you don't care about losing security status on.
And keep podding him especially if he likes flying T3.

Something tells me that wardec will end shortly after that.

Oh I agree.....to bad he does not log on or undock often.
He has 0 impact on the corp except in incursions where when you pug you need logi from othe non wardeced corps and they don't like that warning.

Well stop PUGing and recruit.

ships and ammo costs should pile up over a longer time. If they're not, then the war costs themselves are a waste.

Incursions, got it. That's awesome grief.

Maybe it's worth a petition.

A professional astro-bastard was not available so they sent me.

It's perfectly legal and will not be considered griefing. The one-man corp is strategically denying the ability to make ISK to the alliance. If they cannot deal with that, then they don't deserve to exist.

Don't post if you refuse to get a clue.

He's not the one who cares about the one guy who's never online.

Incursion fleets won't take him with active wardec. And no, they don't care enough to do research and confirm it's one guy who's never online, they'll just take the next person down the line because it's easier.

tl;dr:

Unlike afk cloaker, it's not a personal problem.Roll

I know I may be a bit weird, but I like to see wars as a strategic asset and not just a way to get free kills in high-sec.. So I'd be all in for making costs increase, maybe not drastically, but just to avoid the "declare and forget" mentality, leaving war decs going for all eternity.
I will admit I'm inspired by medieval feudal wars, but it would be great if you could declare war over the sovereignty of a system or so, so then the opponent could consider if it's worth fighting for or not and just surrender in that particular struggle, losing that one thing in question but not their entire fleet.

I know that's a very peculiar example, I'm open to many variations as well.. Things from mercenary contracts like setting an amount of damage to inflict in order to finish the contract could work for war decs too.
Just something to make it an actual war about something and not a mere license to kill miners in high-sec.
