So me and my partner are trying to duo PvP we are both fairly new to eve but really intrested in the game.

Now he wants to fly a Drake while im a little lost on what to fly from what I read best combo would be to fly a tackler while he brings the dps. Any recommendation on a good ship to fly to accompany a Drake(tackler or other). Also like said we are new so a Drake level ship is a good while away any recommendations on what to PvP in as we work to the bigger ships to help familiarize ourselves?

Last question anyone know some good newbie (PvP) Corps to join.

If he is the DPS then he ain't bringing the Drake.

Do you smell what the Lock's cooking?

Whatever it is, it should be able to tackle and be fast. Since you are new, probably a rifter.

Just FYI Drake is probably not the best ship to go pvp'ing in as a newbie. Its fairly slow and doesn't do much dps with heavy missiles, and has short range with HAM's, and can be taken down real easy by more experienced gangs when they see a juicy target liek that. As a new player, you probably do not have the core skills to tank it well enough.

you should both duo in small ships and practice on other small ships. Just my opinion.

You make a valid point, good Sir or Madam.

Rifter Guide.

It's made for solo PvP and might be a little out of date, but the Rifter is still considered a nice, cheap PvP ship.

For those in the know, is a Retribution/Vengeance a good PvP duo?

Like I said we both understand flying a drake is going to take awhile to get the skills to fly properly all Im asking is whats something good to fly along side it.

Thank you for the guide Makkal.

tbh If your friend is bring the dps, they bring some kind of tackle and go find the targets. Rifter, or even some type of cruiser would work fine. It really depends on where your going, and what you plan on fighting.

have a web a scram and something that does a boatload of dps for its ship class. Tag teaming can be harder that solo because you are far more likely to get blobbed so you want something that can kill things before the 30 second (oh **** everyone warp to me) timer hits zero.

This. People won't like you, but it's definitely the most overpowered for very small gang stuff.

Damn nature, you scary!

and just a fyi, even if you both fly rifters and you attack some poor slob in a rifter, the poor slob is most likely going to mop the floor with the pair of ya

don't expect to do much but die unless you find small industrial ships to pop

give it time and that will get better as your skills go up

and to the Falcon guy, um they can't even fly a drake....

if you want to do jam you'll have to go with blackbird for now

Like Ive said we know this game is skill dependant so we dont insta pop. However thanks for the info that the blackbird may be something to look towards.

Blackbird is semi on the way to drake. I'd do that. Also tell your friend to look into Minmatar ships. A vaga/sabre combo is lethal.

Yeah, I was mostly joking :) Kitsune is always something to look into though.

Depending on your skills, you should look at fast destroyers and frigates, a pair of thrashers can take on good range of targets for what they cost. they will also dissuade most sub cruiser ships including a few of the T2 variety.

2 frigates are hard to catch due to small sig and speed (you will need an ab or MWD) as well as low align times. tho you will have to be more careful of your targets.

if you want to fly bigger your over all skills need to be better because you will have a harder time escaping it things get messy.

I would say you fly something that can tackle targets. You scram web them and drake can help smash them to bits.
An assault frigate would be good option or something cheap like a rifter or something. Put web on drake too and you be alright.
Use set of light drones on drake and make set of ewars incase things don't go well. If you are going to go up nice and close ham drake is better option. You may want to switch later on, 2 AF's or 2 recons be good.
