Frig question

My favorite ships to fly by far are Frigs. Fun and fast. However, other than pvp'ing and low level missions, what else can I do in frigs? I'm enjoying running missions but flying a BC and BS is cool, but can be boring since they move slow.

Also, solo pvp really sounds fun, but I don't want the faction hits, any way to get away from that? What else can I do in frigs?

You can run level 1 and some level 2 static DED plexes. If you get your AF skills up you can also do hi-sec exploration (ishkur is nice for this).

As far as PvP without faction hits you can look into RvB. FW is also good for frigs but you lose faction with the opposition.

Edit: You can also scan down mission runners and ninja-salvage Twisted

Also, PvP doesn't give faction standing hits, only sec status hits.

Faction standing is your standing with a specific faction, like gallente federation or amarr empire. If this is below -5, their navy attacks you when you enter their space.

Sec status is basically what CONCORD thinks of you. When you shoot someone who you don't have agression from in highsec or lowsec, you lose some of this. (doesn't happen in nullsec or w-space)

Security status is your status with the New Eden Police (Concord). Every time you are the aggressor without any war declaration, you will take a security standing hit.

As security status is related to PvP, faction standings are related to PvE. You lose standings whenever killing ships from said faction in missions, or by doing important storyline missions for a faction that has negative relations with said faction.

RvB is great fun for a Frigate pilot. I prefer Drakes, Canes, Thorax's and stuff like like that in RvB personally but RvB is about 50% Frigate PvP usually.

For PvE you can use an Assault Frigate with Gravity Capacitor Scan Rigs and Core Scanner to find complexes. You can clear pretty much all Hi Sec Dungeons with medium medium skill. Keep a Code Breaker in the mids, Salvager in the highs and an Analyzer in your Cargo Hold and you are good to go. Gotta get the hang of scanning. I keep a Cov Ops Frigate around to scan quicker sometimes but any ship with a grav rig can do it real quick.

Thing about Exploration is ISK per Hour is terrible but you make it up in big grabs. 40-60mil from a Radar Site. 30 from a Mag Site from T2 Salvage. 20 mil Armor Repair or Hardener. 60 Mil LG Delta Slave or Snake. Sometimes you hit a really big one like a 375mil ISK Omega Implant. No steady income but if you work at it you get some paydays.

I would start off in less crowded space like Amarr or Minmatar.

How do I get involved in RvB?

Also, I just started exploring Minmatar space (Lust area) on my 2nd account. Have visited probably 60 sites in my Heron with this account's Drake as backup/clearing. Biggest find so far has been 900k isk. Hardly anything, but it has been fun.

Also, since exploring came up, when I find wormholes, I get scared and haven't gone into any yet. What do you usually find in them? Are they worth going into solo and by solo I mean with my Heron and 2nd account's Drake.

Should be mentioned that Assault Frigates can do up to Lv3 missions; same as Battlecruisers. Lv4s however might be tad bit too much, I think.

Space. It seems to go on and on forever. But then you get to the end and a gorilla starts throwing barrels at you.

5 year vet confirming that RvB is indeed amazing fun in frigates.

Message me in game or join R-V-B for more info.

Also wormholes are scary places for new people, very complex and dangerous.

if by "worth going into" you mean making ISK, they are worth it as long as you take the time to read up on WTF is going on in there. If you mean PvP, you should either join a WH corp or stay out, as wormhole PvP revolves around small to medium gangs.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Are they as efficient as BC's? I'm guessing not, but either way, I might default to a few lvl3's instead of 4's just for fun a few times a day.

Quick answer is no, not by a long shot (from an efficiency standpoint) - however, from a fun standpoint they are pretty solid.

I rat in 0.0 on my other character in an Assault Frig and really like it - to me its more fun than a SB, although a bit slower and you have to watch d-scan quite a bit more as you cant just cloak up quickly and bail.

I do run a low end cloak on it none the less (Wolf works quite well).

Being a longer term RvB'er, as has been said, is frigate and dessy heaven. Lots of chance for solo and 1v1 fights - we even have a frigate only FFA system (where you can kill both Red and Blue).

Also, I would reccomend WHs. Wormhole day-tripping is really fun in assault frigs, you can fit things like the Ishkur/Jaguar/Vengeance with a decent pvp fit + core probe launcher and still more than enough tank to complete C2 sleeper sites. Doing 4-5 sites can cover back the cost of your frig and you might find some fun PvP in WHs as well as possible finding a solo passive Drake to gank :)

In fact C2 sites can be solo-ed by a Slicer if you want to use something really cheap however you can't also have a pvp fit while maintaning enough tank and the cpu is tight for the probe launcher.

My Slicers all have offline probe launchers between the guns, these days. In order to use the probe launcher I just have to temporarily offline a heat sink.

How do you tank your Slicer for C2s?
