Wow, quite a letter. Thanks for the candour, it's not easy admitting shortcomings like that.

I look forward to seeing how the future advancement goes with this statement behind it.

Generally the man at top only apologises when,

A) The company is hemorrhaging/about to hemorrhage money due to his stubbornness

B) The company is hemorrhaging/about to hemorrhage his top staff due to his stubbornness

I don’t think he woke up one morning and found religion and realised the errors of his ways, I think its adapt or die time which makes the apology worthless imo.

Whether he decided to apologize because of the sudden realization of the error of his ways, or because of duress (i.e. bleeding membership subscriptions), I really commend Himlar for doing this. This apology has been seen by many (even many cynical) as not just a good step forward, but the culmination of the issues that have boiled over and exploded during the summer.

Now, as many have said here, with the refocus for the winter expansion, I am definitely looking forward to the future.

Hybrid rebalancing?!(i like blasters, but having them changes makes them new again to me!)
New "true" Exploration at some point in the future?!?!?

I love EVE, Im excited about both blogs.

I've been playing 3 years, only recently following closely, though. I am actually a refugee from Star Wars Galaxies (a sad tale). I hope this is what I see happen. I love EVE, and everything it's accomplished so far, and it's hard to watch the true veterans that are so jaded. I hope I get the opportunity to see these things happen. Regardless of what does happen, the letter alone took guts.

I call a toast. To the future of the future.

Yeah... that should all help catch you up to whether EVE may or may not be dying. The new Star Wars game looks like WoW with lightsabers so we can only pray CCP sorts their lives (and our game) out. Cool

After viewing what Hilmar has said, I would hope that he fully intends to properly iterate Incarna in its complete form as a support project to what is coming in the Winter, so that player establishments get released as a bonus to FiS updates.

I would strongly encourage that.

To give you some feedback on what is said by other players and an ANCIENT idea from ccp, one that could actualy work with the precious walking in stations, give us our Warroom as corporation and as Alliance.

Build us a station tactical overview that invilves walking in stations and Wartargets, posses, Planetairy interaction and other basic system intel we can gather.

I am pritty sure you can do thatm if you wanted to, even partualy, for your next great release.

Well, with such a heartfelt apology not coming from just any Dev, but the CEO of CCP, I am more inclined to restore the small amount of faith I had lost. So, with that, everyone grab your ships, and get back in space!

Even with all the nots and failings, you still have a better connection to the community, than any and all the other large MMO companies. Keep up the good work!

I know this may sound odd.
But every once in a while when you need to refocus on whats important.
Take some time to play the game again and really delve into the stuff were talking about.

I would never ever make the claim that no one at ccp plays EVE.
However as you all say your very busy you have job to do and you dont have time to play it.

Im not talking about QA testing or testing on singularity. Give your self some time to really play through some of the complaints we've laid at your door. Every once in a while try to have team building exercises in game. One time you explore pos management, another time explore faction warfare another time its something else.

You'll have to forgive the analogy, but its like a chef tasting his dish before sending it to the patron.

Your trying to connect with the player base.
Try to rediscover that personal connection you have with eve itself as well.

You might be surprised from what you learn.

That is a pretty impressive apology, I appreciate that. Thank you.


However, as you mention yourself, we are going to be watching what you do and not what you say.

You see, thrust and faith are fragile things. And it is far easier to break them than it is to put them back together... I'll be looking at the end results and we'll see if faith get's restored.
