Veldspar spawns in every belt in every region of space, so I don't think you have to worry about where to sell it; prices are going to be pretty much same all around.

As for how much is 50k veldspar ?

Well one abaddon takes roughly 8mil units of tritanium and since you need 333 veld for 1000units of trit which makes it some 2,6 million units of veldspar to make a single battleship.

Another point you might want to look at:

Selling ore vs selling minerals

Look how much the ore cost / unit on the market. Then multiply with the amount of ores you have and you have the price you would get from selling raw ore.

Then, open the refining window. Look how much minerals you get out of refining (the You get colomn) and multiply those numbers with the price of each mineral.

This way you can find out if it is more profitable to sell raw ores vs refined minerals (this is specially the case when you don't have high refining skills and high standings - to negate the "unrecoverable" and "we take" colomns).

You can mine Veldspar in any system with any security level. Generally speaking, the lower the security of a system, the more valuable the ores will be there. You can find Omber in a 0.5 system in Minmatar space, which is more valuable than Veldspar. However, the belt rats (non-player pirate ships) in the lower security systems are also tougher.

You can refine Veldspar it into tritanium, but unless you get your refinery skills up high AND have high standings with the station owner, you will probably make more money selling the ore rather than the minerals.

Train up to get Miner II s. They get a much better yield than Miner i s.

As a newer miner, I would highly recommend going to the 'social' menu from the 'E" at the upper left hand corner of your EVE client, and look for 'Fleets'. Open that up, and look for mining fleets, especially ones with Orca support. Join a mining fleet, and you will have experienced and friendly miners to talk to as you mine. You don't need to join a corporation to be a member of a fleet.

Mining by yourself is like watching paint dry. Mining with a bunch of friends is a social activity, like a backyard barbecue.

The Orca also gives mining boosts, increasing the amount you mine. You can also dump your ore from your cargo hold right into the hold of the Orca, eliminating the need for using a jet can or a Giant secured container. The orca has drones to kill the belt rats, it has remote reppers to heal you, it even has a docking bay so you can switch ships or modules if you like.

A lot of Orca pilots will buy your ore from you right on the spot. You just keep mining, and watching your wallet flashing. This eliminates the need for mining the ore, dumping it in a flippable jet can or small capacity GSC, docking your ship, getting your industrial ship to pick up your ore, taking it to the station, etc.

Also, consider training up to get a mining cruiser. I find that the Caldari Osprey is simply the best mining cruiser, hands down. The minmatar mining cruiser can't compare with it, since it lacks the drone space. Drone skills are extremely important to a miner, since your drones protect you as you mine.

The good thing about mining in a cruiser (or battleship) is that you can use these ships to run missions as well.

If you decide you want to be a professional miner, you can just skip the cruiser and get a retriever (mining barge).

Drones are another thing I need to figure out. Thanks for all the useful info. And yeah, being able to shoot the breeze with others makes mining a bit more bearable lol.

Except the last bit, if he's been focused on training mining he's probably going to need to call in a buddy to get through Dagan's shield, and possibly to tank Kritsan depending how invested he is into defense.
