The new Unified Inventory does not seem to be what CCP originally had in mind.

The Unified Inventory, as described on CCP's own website, does NOT seem to be the same as the Unified Inventory that I am forced to use in-game.

Quote:
Unified Inventory - Your entire fortune in a single click

You have hangars of ships at your disposal and wealth that spans the galaxy. Unified Inventory gives you convenient access to all of it. Searching for your favorite ship is now easier. Assessing your stockpiles, more convenient. Admiring the fruits of your labors, more rewarding.

To me, it seems like this "feature" was intended to be used under the assets tab, and then got sidetracked into this mess we have now. In my opinion, the assets tab is the perfect place for this new toy.

Could a DEV please explain what has happened here? Your website contradicts the reality of the game.

Other comments are most certainly welcomed. :-)

Thank you so much.

***DISCLAIMER*** My apologies to any GM or DEV for having to start a new topic on this. I originally asked this question with one of my other characters via petition, and was directed by a GM to the "official" thread. I have asked twice in the official thread, and waited patiently for an answer. Nobody has responded there, and I would really like an explanation for this blatant issue.

Is CCP trying to sweep these threads under the rug?

Your right, the link you provided certainly comes nowhere close to the description. Assets and ships in a single click... Roll

Most likely what happened, was they implemented it just as described, internally.

They soon found out it was unworkable due to the inventory lag problem we saw on the first release of the new ui.
(i can only imagine how bad it was when trying to load the entire content of a player across the eve universe)

They probably beat their heads against the wall trying to fix this and found out that its such a low level problem (due to eve's legacy code) that the idea was pretty much unworkable.

So they scaled it back simplified it and then subsequently broke it.

All the while , who ever was lead on this project was looking at his dead line and screaming bloody murder.

some poor saps spent 72 hours straight in a code induced trances, fixing it to make it work .

On the 4th day they tested it and it worked .

When it was released on sisi the feed back there was ignored because the people who could do anything about it was most likely recovering or in the loony bin from code induced trauma.

So it was released unto eve and considered good enough .

Finally those who could fix it , had recovered enough, and some how found the strength to brave the forums, take our feed back and fix the mess that was created.

I have no idea how people like this work, but thankfully they exist and some how manage to pull through all the chaos and still provide those of us a great game. despite all the problems.

the writeup is 100% accurate

you can access everything with 1 click
it just take several more clicks to do anything useful

New inventory is awesome, eve gamers are just not very adaptive I think.
I work faster with the new inventory and dont have to open 6 overlaping windows

Maybe you people aren't reading correctly...

"YOUR ENTIRE FORTUNE IN A SINGLE CLICK"

"wealth that spans the galaxy"

"convenient access to all of it"

100% accurate?

Are you trying to tell me that while I am in Jita, I can see what's in my hangar in Dodixie? And while I'm in Dodixie, I can see what's in my hangar in Arnon? And while I'm in Arnon, I can see what's in my Orca that's parked in Jita?

I can do this with the Unified Inventory somehow?

This sounds like the assets tab to me. But hey - if you know something I don't, I would LOVE to hear it.

+1 Sri Nova

Just like Sri Nova said....They tried to do something that any1 with half a brain would have known would fail. And they went ahead and released this garbage because there are some lamers playing the game who like to see BROKEN new things.

I don't understand why they don't just roll-back, instead of trying to shine up this S*** with a life-long of updates, that will never work as good as the prev inv did.

The only reason to go ahead and release months of updates is prolly because ccp is hoping we forget how much more efficient the prev inv was, but that won't happen cause the game is basically unplayable, especially when u consider that I can play a different game(D3) and actually PLAY that game without working around unnecessary bugs.

It is very possible that ccp is done with the client, and is purposefully trying to kill it, thats the only thing that makes sense.

Any1 saying they "Like this new ui" or "u can't adapt and don't like change", STFU, u are either an alt of the devs that came up wit this dumb idea, or a ccp alt...

I like the new inventory, especially the filters & estimated price.

Does that make me an alt?

I want to sort my items by estimated value.

I also want it to replace the current assets button.

The most accurate response in this thread. Add lag that increases proportionally to your video settings, local numbers, assets/cans numbers and it's quite boring.

Welp, I'm loosing more time than ever to do simple stuff but can I deal wiz it? -of course
Sad that time waste because of this is wasted time for spaceships or something else? -of course

At some point the old functionality will be back, after some fixes more or less buggy but welp, I don't have the choice button to choose old one so, I just deal wiz it.

Only thing i like about the new inventory is the price estimate it gives you for stuff you click on.

i did not know i was sitting on 2bisk worth of mex until i accidently clicked it. NOM

Actually he is kind of right. The est. value is rarely ever accurate and it adds (unnecessary) load to the sever (I'd think).

Nevertheless, I also like that feature, because it gives you at least a rough idea about where some dormant isk lies around.

I don't know where everybody is complaning about because the only thing wrong with it, the lag, has been fixed. The addition of renaming POS moduls and grouping them is wonderfull, alto it wasn't added initialy.
For me it works wondefull.

This is where I put my signature, right?

If you were opening 6 overlapping windows before, you were not doing it right and that explains why you like the new UI.

If the "new" UI is so great why does every patch make it work more and more like the old one?

OMG You are sooo pixel macho...

Just think of it, I open a can to put stuff in from another can. simple right?

Open can 1.
Open can 2.
Opening can 2 closes can 1.

Shocked

Using shift to overcome this ....... , is just facepalmheaddesk.

If they can fix that^, now then we are well on our way to have something useful.
