Hi everyone, I've never been focused on what i really train for, sometimes i'll just train some missiles, other times i'll go for gunnery, science, engineering, drones etc - so i've never really found the "perfect" mapping for me, I was wondering if any of you had any tip?

Current mapping

Int: 24
Per: 24
Cha: 17
Will: 17
Mem: 17

your attributes right now are okay for the starter map. Int and Per are the most important attributes.

Do what I did. Start without a map, and get your baseline skills down. You want to be able to use the basic tech 1 modules and all race cruisers, plus the battlecruiser skill. You might also want to train noctis 2/3, retriever, all the medium turrets and missiles, and possibly electronics and engineering 5.

Then when you're satisfied with your base (and I mean really satisfied), you choose a path and commit to it:

  • +10 Intelligence, +4 Memory (or +7/+7) -- this is the engineering/electronics/mechanics/science/industry map
  • +10 Perception, +4 Willpower (or +7/+7) -- this is the weapons and ship command map
  • +10 Charisma, +4 Willpower (or +7/+7) -- this is the leadership and trade skills map
  • Once you choose a path, spend the next year or so training all of the most important skills in that area, so you can use all tech 2 and have any extra skills not for prerequisite still trained at least to 3.

Some of the side categories are a little unique:
Corporation Management (memory/charisma) -- can be trained during the Int/Mem map OR the Cha/Wil map
Drones (memory/perception) -- can be trained during the Int/Mem map OR the Per/Wil map
Navigation (intelligence/perception) -- best trained during the Int/Mem map
Social (charisma/intelligence) -- best trained during the Cha/Wil map
Planet Management and Subsystems have two types each in them, but if you check each skill it's pretty self-explanatory.
Social is more complicated. It uses mostly charisma and some willpower, but several skills have a unique attribute setup.

Lastly I would point out to you that you do not want to miss the capital skills as you go through each map. You can save them for last, but do not pass up the ability to use the capital logistics modules, repair modules, and such on the Int/Mem map, and don't pass up the carrier/dreadnought skills and shooting capital weapons on the Per/Wil map. It'll take so long to get through these maps that you'll start using capitals at some point before you've gone all the way through. You don't have to buy the books, just have all the prerequisites done so you can buy it and train it to 1 later.

The Int/Mem map lasted for 1 year for me, and would have lasted about a month longer but I cut it short after the next remap was ready. The Per/Wil should last at least a year, maybe more depending how far you go with capital ships skills. The Cha/Wil map is a short one, lasting only a few months till you can use all 5 types of fleet booster (including mining).

What may be helpful is if you write down a list of the possible things to do in EVE, then choose which ones you wish to try out. For the careers you've chosen, work out what skills are needed to try them out, then train for them. It doesn't take long to train the skills to "dip in" to every career.

For instance, if you want to try out exploration, you'll train the basic probing, hacking and archaeology skills.

If you want to try frigate combat in RvB, you'll train up t2 small weapons and lvl IV racial frigate.

If you want to try out 0.0 as a combat pilot as fleet support or for roaming gangs then it would take very little time to train up t2 medium weapons and lvl IV battlecruiser skill (+ weapons upgrades V, advanced weapons upgrades III-IV).

The key at the early stage you're at is to train FOR something, rather than only go for the best skillpoints per hour: your current mapping is excellent to achieve this so you're on the right track already.

In summary, choose a career, match it to a ship and fitting, work out the skills to fly that ship with that fitting and train for it (at your stage lvl IV in most skills will be sufficient). Then muster your courage and GET OUT THERE AND TRY IT :)
