You know we've all had that problem. You thought you were orbiting, following, keeping at range, or even approaching your target but you accidentally double clicked in space and were too busy to realize that you're not orbiting or any of the above commands anymore!

Can we get a way to add a small worded display over our ship status display that will show us our current action? Such as...

You are Orbiting: Imperial Avenger
You are Approaching: Stargate (Amarr)
You are Keeping at Range: Guardian Spy
You are Aligning to Amarr IV (Easy warp to from here)

Somewhere in the natural area where if we are being webbed or warp scrambled currently is shown.

+1 and this

AFK cloaking doesn't earn anything, so it needs a buff!

There's already precedent for this sort of display. I thought it used to say "Warping to _____" but apparently it's been changed to a two line thing saying Destination and Distance, although I just saw it say "Distance: ___ to bubble collapse" with no destination line but now I can't get it to repeat that... not sure what's going on there.

The point is, expanding upon that to display your ship's "current navigation order" makes sense and would be very useful. "Orbiting ______ at 20km" or "Approaching ____" or "Keeping ____ at 7500m" would all be wonderful things to see on my screen, preferably near my ship's speedometer. Perhaps in the space between the HUD elements and the new ewar notification area, such that if the HUD is at the top, the navigation order is listed directly below the ship speed, and if the HUD is at the bottom, the order is listed directly above the shield percentage and meter.

PS: You know what else would be useful? Not having anything special happen when you double click, whether accidentally OR on purpose. Setting an arbitrary course in space should be the top function on the menu when you right-click in empty space, just like 'approach' if you right click on a bracket. Call it "Set Course" or something similar. Or at least require a customizable hotkey to be held down while clicking once in space. And double clicking a target in your lock-on list should not trigger an 'approach' order. If we wanted to approach we would right click, because left clicking is for selecting which target to shoot. Double clicking is bad, m'kay?

I completely agree with this. Even though Donna's portrait scares the hell out of me.

Agreed, this would be a welcome addition to the UI. +1

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

The additional change I mentioned could, of course, be given a config option so that anyone who's really attached to that spawn of the devil known as double-clicking doesn't have to adjust to a more sensible, less error-prone method.

Double clicking is an invention dreamed up by the spawn of Satan and Bill Gates one night after smoking dope.
'Hey man, how can we F*** everyone up even more? Wait - make it so you have to double click everything!'
'But if you clicked it once, doesn't the pc already know what you want it to do?'
'Yeah, it's f***ing PERFECT!'

(Insert witticism here)

They could give us something to see the axis we are going so we'd know that we are drifting off into space unknowingly.

A line, circle, or curved path estimating your course (fading out the farther it gets from your ship?) similar to the line it shows on the tactical display when you point at weapon modules would be great. It would have to be only visible when the tactical display is enabled though.

Some of us the double click, in space its good for approaching targets whilst keeping transversal up. When double clicking targets to approach its goodfor de-cloaking.

As for displaying your current action, sure, as long as I can turn it off.

if you mean "some of us USE the double click function", yes... I use it too. I'm well aware of what it's useful for. It's an important feature. But you shouldn't have to be forced to double click to use it. I did suggest a couple of alternatives. Perhaps you missed that part. I was not suggesting the removal of the feature. But accidental or unintentional double-clicking is common enough that it's a problem. Having a way to disable double-clicking in EVE and use some other command to do the same thing would be excellent.

Being able to disable double clicking in Eve when it is needed can help from uncloaking when it would be a bad time to do so.
