Once upon a time, folks laid small minefields just outside the undock point of starter stations right after downtime, so they could sit back and watch all the new players undock and go *pop*... true story Bear

and on the other end of the spectrum, player corporate big-wigs would undock in their battleships and tank the CONCORD cruisers ( because CONCORD didn't have battlehsips yet ) while they destroyed folks that were thieving ore from their corp members' jet cans...Pirate

If CCP doesn't want us to mess with new pilots, just make them invulnerable for the first 30 days and be done with it. I can't tell who's a rookie and who's not. I do not show-info on someone before I engage them. and I have no way of knowing if a character is alt #378 of a vet or a noob's first character.

Not to concord I hope, otherwise the 3 day T1 catalysts alts will descend upon you.

maybe you should re-petition CCP for reimbursement from that attack. Their changing view on such matters seems to be in your favor. Blink

EDIT, you should include compounded interest, plus several years of pain and suffering as well as lost skillpoints from your rage-quitAttention

Also whats to stop a horde of 'rookie' *cough*goons*cough* (Blink) players flooding 0.0 & running rampant through every alliance space, safe in the knowledge they can not be killed...

Um, I wonder how many rookie frigates with civ lasers it would take to bring down a POS...Lol

I got wardecced by DigitalCommunist in my first week in EVE.
I realized that he couldn't activate his scrams on his pre-nerf nanoranis, or warp to where my t1 punisher was if he was busy replying to my endless local smack
really i learned everything i needed to know about how to survive in EVE in that first week (always local smack)

Shame they nerfed the self-destruct aoe damage, instead of boosting it to a useful level Straight

I have to agree with the OP. The idea that the only people in a specific system are "new" players is a little shortsighted.

My 2 week old alt account isn't a "new" player.

If they want to protect new players then new accounts should have a timer on them that makes them ineligible for PvP. If they attempt to enter a system that is below a sec threshold they should get a warning that it will remove their new player timer before jumping. If they attempt to engage another player they should get a warning that it will remove their new player timer.

A disposable alt on this account doesn't constitute a new player, and shouldn't benefit from immunity to other players. Nor should I be able to fly into a system and be immune because they decided to go the easy route and declare a system pvp free to help new players.

Help new players by coding in rules CCP, not by stating them.

Almost any kind of rule like this would be instantly abused by the older players in EVE.
I can think of many ways to abuse a rule like this.

Shortly after that mines where made useless.

Indeed, until M00 decides to gank the system and lay waste to everything passes in one system and spidertank the concord ships killing everything in sight. So concord was buffed (extreme) (the original burn jita (but not in jita))

The bigger the society the more rules it needs, in many ways EVE emulates everything that UO faces when there where PK's everywhere ganking from the moment you stepped two meters from the "safe" cities. Up to the baitcontainer with "free loot" to kill noobs.

There was more freedom in the old days, but it got taken away because most of us are not able to manage it in a way that it makes playing eve fun for new guys or frankly enjoyable gameplay for most. I find that at the moment they have struck an interesting balance in the ganking (taking away insurance, plugging holes when exploits that gankers use are found but leaving the basic system intact.).

They are nerfing the beejezus of everything because people went from having a sense of measure to the modern and self entitled:

"If I CAN do it then I WILL do it".

Where "it" is any lowest possible human activity.

Therefore dog muzzles were introduced.

Make new ACCOUNTS untargetable for the first 14 days of its existance in HISEC. that way new guys have time to do their story arcs, get used to flying and so on in hisec. This would only stop players targetting them obviously. That way, no strange rules, no areas where they can or cant be shot, you simply cant shot a new account in hisec for 14 days.

Go to lowsec, nullsec or wormholes and normal rules apply.

Trust me, I almost know what I'm doing.
