Why can we go directly to a Dev post, but not a GM post?

See title. This annoys me to no end. Like the thread below (or above!) this one about harassing newbies on the SoE epic arc. Would be very interested to see the GM reply in that one, but nope, can't go directly to it like you can a Dev post....

Space. It seems to go on and on forever. But then you get to the end and a gorilla starts throwing barrels at you.

I agree, iv often wondered why its like that also. Again i only thought about it again when i read the thread about griefing noobs. Had to quickly scroll through 7 or 8 pages until i saw a flash of red to indicate that was the GM's post.

The search function does work, but thats like 4 extra clicks and typing! I MEAN COME ON!


1. Click the GM flag beside thread.


OR


1.Click Search.
2. Type GM in search bar.
3. Click Search (AGAIN)
4. Click relevent topic that shows up with GM answer.

Hey it works.

You can't use the Search Forums bar in the upper right but if you use the SEARCH button on the upper left it will work.

So to inject something constructive to an otherwise dry and useless thread:

I didn't know that the search thread for GM/DEV replies forum feature existed; perhaps something worthwhile to add would be a shortcut at the bottom of the page that links to that page? I know that searching for all official replies in a thread is a common need, why not make it quick and easy to accomplish with a single button push?

Repeating repeatedlly is.....boring.

Frankly - reading a question and then being able to get the GM response, without having to read all the speculation and drivel inbetween, would be a great addition to the forums.

I actually discovered this very issue today

disappointing to say the least.

and to the GM who posted that... um... interesting workaround

what is better, an index link on the post (that has already been perfected and implemented) or people hammering the forum DB with searches based on global criteria that will result in tons of matches?

you should know by now the good ol forums aren't quite as robust as they used to be Roll

The feature already exist and everything, too. When a GM replies to a thread you already get that little icon next to it. But unlike a Dev "icon" you can't click on it to go to the post. It should only require minimal effort on CCP's side to add the same functionality to the GM "icon".

Imagine a patch where they loudly announce:

"Unified GM and dev buttons UI!".

(See forums crash, lag, get the reply button removed.... oh wait, that'd be actually good).

A patch? Why would they need a freakin' patch to fix this? It is probably as simple as putting a check mark somewhere or something equally trivial within the forum software - not the game software.
