Followed all of Traveller up until TSR's spat with GDW over Gary Gygax that killed GDW and made TSR so weak it was taken over by Wizards of the Coast for a Pittance.

Played Elite on the BBC Micro, then migrated to MUDs online, then moved to EverQuest and finally re-found EVE a couple of years back

LOL, Tunnels & Trolls by Flying Buffalo Games. That brings back some memories. Avalon Hill "Squad Leader" and "Starship Troopers," Steve Jackson Games "Car Wars," TSR "Top Secret."

There's no game like eve that makes you feel young. Under 30, just by a few years.

Well over.

I've been playing MMOs since the days of MUDs. I can remember thinking back then that it would be really great if they could put up pictures rather than just text based descriptions.

:-)

Ever play the old "Adventurer" I believe it was called. Text based on mainframes.

Why? If he were good enough for your corp when you didn't know his age, why would this revelation change anything? Sad

OK, after spending some time on this forum I have to wonder what the average age of the player base is that plays this game.

Wow, so you mean this isn't a massively multiplayer online role playing forum?

Dear God..... just realized I'll be 50 in 6 months...

First computer game was a Star Trek game on a Burroughs mainframe... The old 12 inch floppy drive in a hatbox Blink

Spent hours in the computer lab with that thing.....

Wut?!

Just because of him being 12 years old?!?
Obviously he was good enough to pass yours corporation invitation interview.

If he/she acts reasonable / considerate / mature, the real age only usually is no reason for kicking him/her.

Btw.: PEGI for Eve Online says "12 upwards".

Ha! It was TradeWars 2002 on a 486 DX2/50 in Highschool for me. Never did MMOs until EVE. Think I picked the right one first time out. The Brutality of it all... appeals to me.

Somewhat over 30.

My first spaceship fights were Wing Commander 2, X-Wing, Tie Fighter, Privateer, Rebel Assault (very early 90's Star Wars games).

I also recall EVE being the MMO appealing to me for the skill system alone.

Eve Minions is recruiting.

This is the law of ship progression!

Well, I think that settles that, the playerbase of EVE is certainly ... ahem ... "mature".

Wing Commander and WC2 were pretty terrible from what I remember because it felt like flying a turret (unfortunately story doesn't make up for bad gameplay); I played SWOTL instead. This is not to say Lord British had it all wrong! The first game I installed on my 386 SX/16 was Ultima 7 Part II and it took up some 40% of my hard drive. I played a few MUDs before EQ came out but I didn't play an actual MMO until EVE.

Also, Syndicate ruled.
