So, in summary, DUST514 will be well advertised both within the existing FPS gaming community as well as to the wider market.

Will it have $100 mill marketing budget or not?

If not, the point you made earlier in this post is an invalid comparision.

Perhaps you should reread what you posted and put some thought into it yourself. Smile

While you have demonstrated your grasp of basic math, when you consider that active subscriptions have steadily increased every year (remember, your original point was that they were trying to count inactive subscriptions as well) all you have proven is that not only is CCP's income is increasing, but also (unless there are statistics we haven't seen stating otherwise) since the ratio of players to number of accounts has remained the same the number of active players is therefore expanding also.

Also consider that all this is happening despite system requirements becoming a bit more demanding (limiting multi box users to a degree), and that currently thousands of accounts are banned every month for botting (again, heavy multi boxers).

You have successfully proven that CCP is heading in the right direction from a business point of view and are expanding their customer base, congratulations. Smile

Edit: I almost forgot, while you may not consider CCP to be a major player that is simply your opinion. The rest of the gaming industry seems to disagree with you. Blink

My original point has still flown over your head, sorry.

CCP is not a major player, under the following definition:

1: Have not released more than 3 AAA multi-platform titles globally, per annum
2: Have less than $50 million apportioned to R&D per annum
3: Have less than $1 billion revenue per annum

This is what the industry consider a major player, so...your point?

And, if you would be so kind to link me to the subscriber figures from CCP, that'll be interesting reading - but lets not get off point too much, it would be a shame for one of your posts to get deleted.

Dust faces many challenges, and everyone's fear is it will be largely ignored by FPS players and CCP would have been better off either supporting EVE more, or making it a singlular experience sold for $25.

CCP making other games ain't the problem - its methodology and execution, is.

They had such a massive budget because the game was available on more than one system, not to mention the fact that they are JUST a games company. DUST514 is only available on the PS3 and will be advertised by the very company that produces said system, so less money need be spent on advertising in order to reach its target market.

Hopefully that is clear enough even for NickyYo to understand.

No that is not clear, one advertisment covers all consoles because their markets are the same..

So paying money to advertise in a PS3 specific magazine will also cover an advertisement in an XBOX360 specific magazine will it? Try thinking along THOSE lines and maybe you'll see what I mean.
