LowSec Freighter Escort Help

I am looking for a webber / safety escort for my freighter. I occasionally make runs to lowsec, only a few jumps.

I am looking to be able to prevent my fighter from getting poped from small fleets of 1-3 ships, as my travel systems never have gate camps.

Additionally, I would have scouted ahead for large camps / disruptors. I am only concerned about meeting other people in transit.

I was thinking of using a Scorpion setup for jamming,, this would allow me to prevent them from warp disrupting, and i could warp off the freighter to a safe spot.

Below is my fit. Please note I would go to tec 2 when training is done. Additionally, the webbers are needed to speed up the Freighter warp time.

Please critique.

What are you hauling in? If you've for a proper hauler, you need not worry about the occasional camp so long as you scout ahead. If you're looking for the ability to protect your hauler with an alt of your own making, a jamming bird works great in theory - especially one as beefy as a Scorp - but it really won't keep you safe.

Everybody with at least half a brain will just bump your freighter out of alignment until they're finished killing the Scorp.

I'm hauling in a Freighter, a Charon. Even with dual web, you expect they could bump the warp?

Yes. I've lost deep space transports this way too. Freighter would be hell. You ARE going to lose it. It's almost a certainty. You need a little blob to protect it, not just a single alt. If you've managed to survive until now it's mostly luck.

It takes 3 webs to insta warp a freighter, 2 if the freighter is about 1-2 secs into it's align.

You think you can lock and web your freighter into warp before someone else locks and points it?

As others have said, you're going to lose your freighter.

Also, if you posted with your freighter character I'd strongly advise against using it in low-sec anytime soon. It is probably a safe bet you're on numerous contact lists with login notification and locators have already been run.

Plus the range of your webs are not really helping when the freighter might come out 20+ km at the gate - or even more on bigger gates. That's why people use a Rapier. But then again, that is only for speeding up the travel. If anyone manages to get a point on you, you're toast.

To sum up: Use a Jump Freighter.

Yes. Problem with freighter is they warp so slow. Even if you get away, they'll arrive at the next gate ahead of you and can try again.

Aaand your overloaded web range is 12km. You spawn on the opposite side of the gate and are now 24km away from the Charon. What you are gonna do now in your Scorp without a propulsion mod? The ECM burst is most likely get you GCC and nothing else. Multispecs are no good.

Anyway, if you must go through low-sec get proper scouts. +1 gate and -1 gate as a minimum and a webber staying with the freighter. Once you get the "go!" from the scouts, warp the freighter to an off-grid bookmark near the out-gate. Upon arrival collect intel from scouts again, then warp to the gate and jump through. If baddies get reported just log-off webber and freighter to make the system appear empty.

Thanks for the info guys. You brought up some great points.

Oh, and no this is not the freighter pilot, some random new alt.
