This is a very good point. Why is the paintwork being applied look like the ships are Earthbound and planetary, not interplanetary ?

Indeed. The only functional camouflage is, ironically, the bright and shiny coatings of certain Interceptors, like the Stiletto.

Very different from terrestrial-based camouflage.

Space. It seems to go on and on forever. But then you get to the end and a gorilla starts throwing barrels at you.

You're just now noticing that CCP's art department is ruining ships? How long has it been since they ruined the poor Helios to the point that everyone trained for a new covops frigate so they wouldn't have to look at it anymore?

Of course, like every other complaint about ship redesigns, this thread will be ignored.

Used to be only the Navy Issue of ships had camo.

When Minmatars V3 comes around, every single T2 variant will get camo.

The T1 variants are beautiful(see Rifter, for example).

T2 look stupid(see Jaguar, for example).

The Navy Omen, Navy Augoror, Navy Baddon, have this black/blue lights/pale gold thing going for them. They have that because it's just a reskin, because they have the same model as the respective T1 ship. The Imperial Navy Slicer, though, is not just a reskin of a T1 ship: it has its own model.

So naturally they V3'd it into that black/blue lights/pale gold pattern that the other ships only have because they didn't have their own models. The new Slicer looks like it fell forward into a vat of tar.

I'm holding out for ship skins for Aurum. They'd better be cheap.

Is it sad that I'm quite annoyed the Fleet Tempest is losing its iconic square sails?

Now it looks like a normal tempest with a different skin.

The black ships sorta makes sense. After all, space is mostly black, innit?

TBH the black ships are one of the things they've ruined. We used to have awesome black ships (the old Khanid ships, for example, with their beautiful black with blue lights), but now they're all turned into an ugly dull dark gray instead.

I hope the Vagabond will get rectangular solar panels like the Cheetah and new Mastodon, the other Thukker ships.

Wait a minute. Are you serious?

I remember flying that thing around a couple years ago just before I quit. That police light was so important to the overall look. Everytime I heard "Gallente Navy Comet" I would think of the light. Same thing with the Slicer (it has two lights, doesn't it?). If they seriously removed that light.. what are they thinking!?

I don't know how anyone could think that removing all these iconic and beloved quirks and designs is a good idea, and for what? We don't really gain anything from yet another bland out of place camo-painted ship taking the place of a once unique design. All I see is a big step toward Perpetuum, where all the robots are so samey and ugly I had no desire to progress in the game.

The vexor's smiley face, the comet's police paint, light, and GFPF stencil, the old helios model, why can't we have these things back? Why did they have to change in the first place?

Let me tell you, I'll probably never fly a comet again. The only reason I sought it out in the first place was "holy crap I can play a space police ship!", and then I learned to fly it and it introduced me to new playstyles and a lot of fun. If it were the current, dull camo skin, I'd have never taken that step in the first place.

The art team really seems to be doing the opposite of what they're supposed to. Before, the art design of EVE's ships drew me in and made me want to fly them for no reason other than that they looked really cool. Now there seems to be a quest to remove any uniqueness and make the only reason to switch ships numbers, which essentially amounts to the art team making themselves obsolete.

Honestly, the most effective camo is probably flat black paint. Lol

You make a valid point, good Sir or Madam.

, I mean, half a moron would make space based camo on the regions that faction flyis in, you'd think, no? Unimaginitive dudes who arent really artists at all, they dont remodel anything so much as add more crap granular textures to surfaces as the abilty of video cards to display more stuff gores up. They do not so much make cool looking stuff as much as they put demand on graphics cards. These are not "artists" these are hacks, trying tocreate job security with lame-ass models and doing a mostly poor job of it. I will say i never really cared for the asyemetric caldari designs, and they are mostly ugly.
Osprey, Moa griffin and Blackbird are not nice looking ships.Cerberus , Knighthawk , Scorpion and Hawk are....

Maybe the ships are gonna be able to land Soon™ and sprout tank treads - That's the only reason I can think of that camo would be on a frikkin spaceship. Flying under Corporate colors is one thing but you can't tell me your Corporation's flag is Arctic Camo. *facepalm*

On SiSi? Check the model in-game, it's long gone Sad

And I totally agree with the comet. It and several other quirky and/or awesome looking ships are actually a lot of the driving forces behind what I've done in game. I'll look at a ship, decide it looks really cool and I want to fly it, and then I'll work toward it. It's led me to new playstyles, new aspects of the game, and all sorts of stuff I never would have experienced otherwise. I know I'm not alone in this, and the art team seems to be removing their own influence from the game by working toward some kind of space camo singularity.
