OK, after spending some time on this forum I have to wonder what the average age of the player base is that plays this game. I know the forum is but a tiny sample of the overall number of people that play EVE, but I think maybe it'll get us within a range that we can determine the average age of the EVE player base.

Not going to ask for an age out right. If you are under 30 years of age, type: Under 30 If you are over 30 years of age, type: Over 30. As people respond I'll keep track and when we have 200 responses I'll post the results.

I'll start.

Over 30

How exactly do you propose to calculate an average player age with such vague data?

(Over 30)

Simple...

X number of players are under 30 and X number are above, that means the average is somewhere in the middle. Don't make this more difficult than it has to be. By my estimations all ready the average age is about - 30. Cool Give or take a few beers.

33 here.

One of the youngest in my corp (I only know two people younger than me).

I swear we have:

-University teacher, 54 years old.
-Highschool headmaster, 53 years old. His 25 year old son hates EvE.
-Undisclosed professional, over 60 years old.
-Webmaster to a world leader *snip* website, well over 30.

The average playerbase age being over 35 does not surprise me at all.

I feel like a kid over corp comms...and you can usually hear OUR KIDS over corp comms.

That explains why your corp's website is so cool. :)

Way over 30....

Hint: I've been playing Space Genre games since GDW published a small 5 booklet black cover dice game named "Traveller".
Also played Palladium's "Mechanoid Invasion" and "Battletech" with pewter miniatures on a tabletop years before the first playable computer games.

Also Way over 30 ( Actually 52+)

Started on 'Chainmail' (D&D's Father) & 'Tunnels & Trolls', migrated to 'Space Opera' then Traveller.

Followed all of Traveller up until TSR's spat with GDW over Gary Gygax that killed GDW and made TSR so weak it was taken over by Wizards of the Coast for a Pittance.

Played Elite on the BBC Micro, then migrated to MUDs online, then moved to EverQuest and finally re-found EVE a couple of years back

(I did have a dalliance with EVE in the mid 2000's thanks to a free trial on a computer magazine. Unfortunately my PC at the time was rubbish & EVE showed it up With no money to build a new PC, EVE was scrapped along with my pilot of the time. Really wish I built a better PC back then!

According to this Dev Blog, the average age of those that voted in the last CSM election is 32 years.

Probably pretty close to average age for the player base I would imagine.

Over 30 (closer to 40, actually.).

E:

Of course, average maturity of the player-base is something else entirely, but that's a whole 'nother thread/rant :)

Star Wars: the Old Republic may not be EVE. But I'll take the sound of dual blaster-pistols over "NURVV CLAOKING NAOW!!!11oneone!!" any day of the week.

well over 30, 48 in fact.
this character first appeared in elite in 1985 and I have a back story to tie the two games together - so He's nearly over 30 himself.Ugh
