CCP, my view of you has done a 180. Since this news follows on the coattails of the return of ship spinning and more captains quarters(although those should have been in the original release to begin with!), i can only say that I am pleasantly surprised. New features are great, and keep the game from stagnating, but every once in a while core improvement is necessary, and I am glad you have chosen this route for the winter release.

It's good that hybrids are finally getting balanced. Seeing gallente blaster boats shooting exhumers with impunity is proof that they are overpowered.

And thus the balancing cycle comes full circle.

Hopefully CCP listens to some of the threads on this subject and realizes that it's not only hybrids per se but also the way blasterboats function that has become a problem.

and this is why i trained gal weapons and ships THEN train mini

SO

bring on the op rails

All automated intel should be removed from the game including Instant local/jumps/kills/cynos for all systems/regions.Eve should report nothing like this to the client/3rd party software.Intel should not be force fed to players. Player skill and iniative should be the sources of intel.

True balance is homogenous and makes for an incredibly boring game. Even the "rock paper scissors" style of balance is quite boring when you get right down to it.

Hybrids will be redesigned to function more like pulse lasers. So, they will use more cap and have higher fitting requirements.
It's difficult for hybrid ships to get in range, so all will receive a 200% increase in default velocity, yet to balance this they will warp 100% slower.
Finally, all capacitors on hybrid ships will be removed, so they cannot be neuted any more.

I don't know about that. Starcraft had exactly that kind of balance. Still does. It tends to keep things interesting, namely insofar as how a pilot can break that system.

So it goes.

It's not "that kind of balancing," just balancing. When nothing is at the top, it's balanced. What we have in Eve is simply called "unbalanced."

Well the idea in starcraft is that every player ought to have an equal opportunity to win independant on which race they pick.

But when it comes to Eve I would guess that most of us dont want that every race have an equal ability to handle any given situation. Each race should excell in their own specific area. For example: Gallente should have the highest close ranged dps, amarr should have the meanest tanks etc etc. That's not imbalance, it's diversity.

They shouldn't have been released at all.

At least not for another 12, 18 months or so!!!

The problem with diversity is that everybody goes for the same diversity leaving no diversity! That's why I fly all races, so I'm prepared for incoming FOTM

Even if it achieve actual balance, human psychology is going to exagerate it out of proportions and it will be FOTM anyway.

Indeed, let's wait and see first how they envisage making hybrids "balanced" while it's not always the weapon platform itself that's causing the problems.

FOTM for sure. No mention of balancing generally, or specifically balancing gallente and other races tech 1.
