A bitter vet reborn

Damn this part of the forums was looking so peaceful and quiet a week or 2 ago, it must have been scanned by the trolls because it seems it's now become a feeding frenzy in here.

Anway, a while ago I was on the old bitter vet kick, well I tried to tell people that's what it was, it was actually RL getting in the way of my virtual life, I had been inactive for the best part of a year and decided in a drunken moment to resub for a while and have a look around, lot's of stuff happening to Eve in the new patch but a lot the game itself looked very similar.

Null was still run by vast blue lists and NIP's, hotdrops and massive blobs, the only thing that had changed was the names of the people holding it, high sec bears still moaned about getting ganked, low sec pirates still complaining about the lack of targets, whilst simultaneously camping all the gates and ganking anything that they could outnumber and outgun, and CCP still making a mess of things (inventory, seriously, how can they call that better ?)

I decided I wanted a change from Null (as I had spent most of my Eve life there in various different regions) and posted on the recruitment forums, I got all the usual copy/paste brigade, "come join us in null, be part of the end game, reimbursment" etc etc ad naseum, I was beginning to despair, then I got a couple of mails from some WH corp's, they piqued my interest a little, I knew very little about WH's so was keen to learn some more.

So after some pub chat, a quick intro on vent and a sent application, I find myself in a WH, gotta admit to actually enjoying the game again, it took me a couple of weeks to settle in, the guys in the corp were patient, yeah I'm a 5yr old char, but WH's are a totally different gameplay to Null, or High/Low for that matter, no blobs really, no local, what a difference that makes, you actually have to work for your intel, work to arrange things, work to get things set up

Then as well as the lack of local, there is the fact that the WH itself can make a difference, it's no use being in an armour fleet, when the WH you are in reduces armour resists and hitpoints, all these things make it a far more interesting proposition, even making isk is interesting, running a site whilst always looking over your shoulder, wondering if anyone is gonna get past your "eyes" and warp in on top of you, makes the time pass that bit quicker.

I personally think that WH's make Eve interesting, they make a welcome change from all the null/low/high tedium, you have to think differently and act differently, and the best thing, I'm a nub again (well I always was really) but I'm truly learning a whole new gameplay, and dammit, I'm having fun doing it.

So let the flames begin and I hope the trolls have enough to eat Blink

Arox, welcome back to EVE and a hearty welcome to w-space.

I've been living in the unknown since my 2nd month in game (almost 3 years now I think???), and am still a nub Lol ...... and I've loved every second of it.

Welcome back Arox
Good post, nothing to flame or troll there

I moved into wormholes around 2 years ago after becoming totally bored with silly 0.0 politics, blob fests and 10 hour CTA's.
Havent looked back. Even now it still gives you that intense adrenaline rush as you get jumped or counter an attack from hostiles.

To me its Eve at its best
Hope you find it the same

I consider w-space required learning for someone to really know their way around Eve.

It's getting pretty blobby out there, though. It'll never be as bad as null thanks to mass limits, but if you haven't seen them yet, there are quite a few roving bands of dozens of T3s. Alas, my dream of a roaming three-cap fleet never came to fruition.

w-space best space. Null is garbage, it needs overhauling - the first step being removal of local (or at least dialing back the info available through local in null - vague / slightly out of date scraps about the constellation/region you're in, perhaps, but not perfect up-to-the-second knowledge the system you're in!)

I think wh space saved eve for a lot of people.

I have for a long time wanted to write an appreciation thread, but in short, only in wh's do you feel the frontier.
WH feels like space, quite strangely the only space-like place in a space game.

I too was on the road to...well, not bitter vet, but just not-playing vet.

Then I jumped through a hole and, almost a year on, I'm not getting tired of it.

I am a bitter rookie. Jumped into my first wormhole a few weeks after I started playing and haven't left.

Wormhole space, for the most part, has some of the nicest people you'll meet in game. Most corps understand the nature of the beast is to blow each other up, make some isk to replace ships, then blow each other up all over again. We have blown each other up one minute, then a few minutes later fleeted up to roam. You won't find that anywhere else.

So welcome... and get to love dscan!

No trolling please

And i get trolled for **** posting :P

But yes welcome back to the game and to WH's its a shame you didn't find it sooner, your going to have lots of fun finding out that null doesn't prepare you for anything your about to do.
