DUST 514 - The CSM will be speaking with the Executive Producer of DUST, live from Shanghai, and other members of the DUST team about their plans.

Some of us are downloading the beta right now, and some of us have stupid invalid keys. How linked would *you* like to see EVE and DUST 514?

As much as possible! In my opinion, both games suffer from a half-hearted attempt to integrate the two. Now that said, I doubt CCP wants to half-heartedly do any part of this, they've clearly spent the big bucks and can't afford to sleep on the job. I think the critical thing is addressing manageable goals during each developement cycle, prioritizing the kind of interaction the community is most looking forward to.

The two things I'm most looking forward to seeing somewhere down the road - planetside Faction Warfare objectives that count towards the Sovereignty Wars, and ARENA FIGHTS with integrated EVE gambling!! Delicious, delicious metagaming will be had the day New Eden sees its first player-driven "E-sport" outside of the Alliance tournament.

But enough about me, what do YOU want to see???

*Keep an eye out for me in the beta this weekend, I'll be all up in that business as soon as my North American voucher issue is resolved and I can finally get the client downloaded. I'll post my Dust character's name once I get him set up so you can shoot your elected CSM in the face!

Yet another place to peddle my Resurrection Men idea? http://mararinn.blogspot.com.au/2012/02/resurrection-men-storyboard.html

Basically: have DUST514 directly involved with resource extraction for EVE and DUST production: in this case a combined system for tracking down good brains from which to extract expertise related to gunnery, electronics, science, navigation, etc.

Also allow schematics to be researched for ME and PE, which gives Dust Bunnies another target: liberating researched schematics from factories.

Depending on the success of the Dust 514 release and continued playerbase retention i would like it to be very entangled with Eve if Dust is successfull. If it isnt then i would suggest to cut the ties and not let a handfull of Dusties control any major aspect of FIS.

You go your corridor but.

I'd like to see DUST on the same industrial footing as EVE-O; where very few of the things you use to fight are npc seeded.

I'd like to see PI modified to the point where DUST players can affect it both positively and negatively (PI in friendly districts gets a boost, PI in enemy districts gets a nerf -or isn't possible-, and PI on planets with no dusties is exactly as it is now)

I'd like to see EVE-O-specific items which can only be made by DUST players and vice versa.

I'd like to see sov be unattainable and untenable without having well-coordinated DUST and EVE-O players providing mutual support for operations; If neither side brings DUST players to the party, then sov is as it is now. Otherwise, the side lacking DUST players (or whose DUST players are getting schooled by the opposing side's DUST players) is placed at a significant disadvantage.

The more the better. I would love to one day see important battles fought on the ground with opposing fleets above trying to send down strikes and prevent the enemy fleet from doing the same.

Null sec and holding districts should be a big part of the game. Many FPS player, me included, want this rabbit hole to go deep. Battle arena's with the ability for EVE players to spectate and place bets would be amazing.

I still can not wait to see what they do with the War barge. I think the War Barge mechanics will be important. I am not sure if CCP has decided how that will work yet.
I myself wonder if the War barge should be something that can interact with the EVE players and how that would work. Would the war barge just be a low orbit vehicle that jumps right into low orbit where it never interacts with EVE players, or maybe it would have some kind of reinforcement mechanic that would allow a fleet time to come defend it?

The more linkages the better.

Also CCP needs to get the social spaces of Incarna completed so I can command my Dust minions in person.

Try looking into seeing what CCP is going to do with PI post-integration, since PI is probably going to be the main interface with which DUST and EVE players interact with each other. But as of the moment it's really boring and a pain in the ass to use, and probably going to be suicide inducing doing PI on a PS3 controller (especially if you're a duster trying to set up an interplanetary isk network like CCP has been selling the game on).

In short, PI needs to be fun and easier to use so that we can launch dust armies at each other and watch them fight like ants with glee. I'm not busting my ass for a bestower full of Amarrian Wheat.

Link eve and dust as much as possible.

They need to do more than just screw with PI. Maybe planets could tie into sov somehow. Or you could launch dustees at stations to damage their station services.

Also after playing a bit of the dust beta, a dust player can go through a lot of isk worth of gear in one match, and a lot of matches go on per day. You might want to lower the isk cost of dust gear.

Ask yourself this, "How much isk would you pay to take over a planet?" Right now I'd say 120 mil. That's about the cost of the customs office gantry and all of the PI stuff to online it.

Also dust is going to be hella confusing for people who aren't used to eve. For example in the tutorial screen that pops up (no voice over, no interactive tutorial, just one screen) they throw out the term "BPOs" and "BPCs" Your average console kiddie will have no idea what this means.

I honestly think PoCo based sov is a good idea https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1417544

Dust is going to sink without trace unless it has a Unique Selling Point to distinguish it for the other over 9000 console FPSs

EVE really needs some quick-action, easy entry cheap action thrills, and making Dust meaningful could be an avenue to provide that - but only if Dust is "worth" playing as a part of EVE, or else it's competing with every other game in existence for the EVE players' "ship spinning" time.

Go big, link the hell out of them and give us something to get excited about.

Quick question for you to pass along: If EVE and DUST players are going to be integrated corp and alliance-wise, what impact does this have on formal wardecs?

Because a DUST wardec where you just instantly butt in and crap all over your target's games would be pretty sweet.

As they key selling point of DUST514 is its integration with EVE, specifically PI, and PI being a boring farmville clickfiesta, I have serious concerns about the success of this integration.

Will there be more iteration on PI to make it more interesting (i.e. when can I really Tyrannize populations and commit alien genocide ?)

Take the link as far as possible with a balance of as fast as possible. I fear a lot of ps3 folks will try it, not find much to keep them hooked, and move on when the next CoD releases. A lot of content needs to be available to the duster; be it PvE and possibly an expansion upon current PI. A straightforward tutorial that's informative is a must. Keep it simple for the casual gunners that just want to jump in for the face disintegration, yet have all the deeper level material ready for them. I believe a huge link in this chain would be the addition of space elevators. They're right there in A Future Vision, and are even utilized in Templar One. Each planet can only have only one, and they would act as an upgraded POCO on roids. They are not impossible to destroy; mercs can either move in district by district, for more drawn out conflicts, or go right for the jugular at the highest risk of loss to ships and mercs since all planetary defenses are still active. I would love to see a massive fleet roll in, take out the spaceport of the elevator, and watch the cable fall into the atmosphere killing anyone planetside, and destroying any structures within a certain radius.

I play and enjoy Dust514.

I want to see this closely integrated with EVE. From day 1 i was able to get into fights and start getting kills and being killed, a deep connection to EVE will enhance my enjoyment of both.

I have high hopes for this CCP/ Sony collaboration, hell i bought a new PS3 when i got the invite to be a Beta player of Dust514.
Imo this is a great mutually enhancing project that could expand the EVE universe making more opportunities for EVE players who do not even directly participate in Dust514.

Integrate these two games as much as possible i think it will be on balance a huge plus if you do so.

I'd like to see Dust as an addon to what EVE does, add extra flavour but not affect what can already be done in EVE.

There is a chance it might fall flat on its face (Have you seen PSII?! It blows Dust out of the water) and if mechanics are two closely tied in then it could mean we suffer in EVE land. Not that I want it to fail. Maybe just keep it to an ISK generation mechanic related to PI until its clear of Dusts success.
