Then you're not disagreeing — you're using the wrong word, because that's not what gender is.

Gender is a social construct that distinguishes between “feminine” and ”masculine” (and “queer” in all its incarnations). It is not allocated at you (although society will try its hardest to make it match your sex). It is not determined by genetics (that is sex — the distinction between “female” and “male”).

Fine wrong word.

I still think that the OP is making unreasonable claims and requests of CCP, however.

It is frankly amazing that in this, the year of our lord 2012, there are only 2 gender choices in EVE online. It would be ideal if there were separate sliding scales for both sex and gender, but given the horrific state of intolerance this game's character creator currently wallows in, I would settle for 2 sex choices and a sliding scale for gender. It would also be nice if NPC's would ask you which gendered pronouns you would like used (when you receive missions and such), or least refer to you as he/she/zhe/zhir/hir/hyr/etc depending on the position you chose on the gender scale.

Thoughts?

Seems like you might've just asked if your avatar could wear the girl clothes.

1/10 to the OP, 7/10 for the rest of the thread, heh

He's only right by accident, not by understanding. He just happened to choose a very poor example that accidentally holds true for both gender and sex.

That doesn't change the fact that he's wrong about what gender is or how you determine it.

I'm not defending the troll. Big smile Merely pointing out that the level of intelligence of both looks pretty equal here.

I merely pointed out that by his definition, one's true gender is determined entirely by the physical attributes of your body, which is incorrect. A persons gender identity is NOT determined by such a narrow set of rules. Hope that makes it a little clearer.

I'm not going to argue with you, especially because this is a troll thread and I know you're completely out of your mind.

I"m just going to write then and continue to laugh my ass off.

Gender isn't is genetics. OK then.

Let me point this out. I'm not a plitically correct douchebag that spends his life worried that I might "offend" someones sensetivety. Gener is primarily determined by your sex. I really do not give a **** what words you want to mince.

If there was only 2 ships you could fly in the entire of EVE, would you not ask for more?

Genetics is what determines Sex. Gender is defined by many other things. Please learn basic biology before posting on such issues.

LOL.

For the most part, people are attracted to the opposite sex. I don't care if you aren't because I don't want to hear your sob story about how you weren't hugged as a child.

I don't believe I asked you to care about anything actually. Though you do seem to be rather upset about something, judging by your "sob story" line and something to do with your childhood.

If you have some issues you'd like to talk through, that'd be alright; consider this a shame-free safe-zone. In fact, mods, could we get a Safe Zone tag?

When I was 9, I stubbed my toe. I went to my mother to cry.

She was a lot like the people who frequent GD forum. She told me to HTFU and said that people who cried as much as I did would never hold a job or spouse. She didn't even give me a bandaid, because she said I wasn't bleeding enough to waste the bandage.

Then she was diagnosed with a fatal illness. I was 15 at the time and had a bad relationship with her, but I decided to go visit her before she died in the hospital. I told her I loved her, and she glared at me and told me that if I couldn't handle my mother's death I was guaranteed a life of destitution and sorrow. She then told me that she never actually loved me.

I cried.

And that's why I am the way I am todayRoll

I'd imagine it affected how Greyscale related to others in a social environment.

Societal plague. That's all it is. lol. So many people want to be the nice guy. So many people don't want to tread on the feelings of others.

There is no room for logic in todays society. Fundimentalism is fine, and unquestionable exceptance as well.

God forbid that gender still have anything to do with your sex, or that we recognize that the same things that made our sex are also responcible for our gender.

We'll put it on the whoes of society. In this way when I want to dress up like a woman, I have reason to justify it. There's nothing wrong with me, it's how I was supposed to be born, it's my gender.

That's a bunch of bullshit. You're tesitcles predominately define you as a man, not society. I don't give a **** what you call yourself. You're a guy.

Bad example, seeing as the gender/sex of your avatar has nothing to do with what you do in-game.
