I agree with CCP!

After reading the info on the last CSM meeting I think I finally understood where CCP is coming from and going forward. This is strictly speculation but what else is the net for?

Dust will most likely see an influx of players. As would WIS. You only get one shot at retention and as things are currently there is a large margin of game improvement that would go a long way to retaining any new players. It seems like CCP is focusing on improving the game foundation, look, play, UI etc. in an effort to get to a place where these new subs will jump in, feel comfortable, and stay for the long run. Naturally this puts things like WSM off for a while longer but it looks like it will be worth it in the end. This also coincides with a large portion of the desires of many of the current subbed base so it's a win win win for both current players, future players, and CCP.

I see how it's frustrating in the short term with a slower turn a round on content but I believe CCP is looking ahead a year or more. If this is the strategy they are implementing than I agree with CCP. Best of all it's a strategy that would almost certainly come from within the game itself.

There is no way in hell anyone who comes from Dust will wake up in the little Incarna holding cell and stay with EVE.

What is WSM? Curious minds want to know.

Only ones I could think of didn't make sence: Walking Station Men, Wormhole Station Management, White Stationary Monument, Weapon Security Measures.

Exactly why getting WIS up soon after DUST is a good move for CCP

I, too, think that building up their foundation for retention is a good thing.

What people were worried about in the past was the dumbing down of the game to the point of breaking (Oh I just died? CASH SHOP INVICTUS). Long standing issues had not been addressed, and WIS seemed like a bid to make money rather than interest the long-standing players. "Oh, thank you for the door"

CCP has now fixed many long standing issues (and created a few others that need to be addressed, and I'm fairly confident they will)

There are very few people who are 100% opposed to the existence of WiS, as long as it doesn't negate the importance of FiS and actually adds something to the game. And the cash shop being pay-to-win is a big downer. (Which is funny because plex/char bazaar)

So yes, move forward, CCP. Fix the last niggling issues and make WiS and the new player experience functional, by all means. More players means more fun.

Hello, hello again.

Same here.

I'm wondering if it's a typo and he meant WiS?

There were huge outcries against Plex. Ultimately, it was accepted, mostly for two reasons: the Jihad-worthy feelings the playerbase holds towards RMT and botters, and the fact that Plex does not introduce anything into the game world. ISK is not magically created by Plex.

The character bazaar is an interesting curiosity. Still, character sales are a long-standing MMO tradition. And as with Plex, nothing is being created by character transfers - more importantly, an idiot who suddenly has a 100M SP character is still an idiot, and will find himself losing ships to people with a tenth of his SP at every opportunity.

It's splitting hairs mighty fine in terms of 'pay to win', but both of these features are a far cry from the fears - baseless or otherwise - of Aurum 1600mm Unobtanium Plates and Monocle L focusing crystals.

What worries some of us is that we'll have to use WIS features to access FIS features (kinda like how Incarna started), which is a bad idea IMO. Look at the outcry over ship-spinning FFS.

It may have escaped your attention, but some of the null sec 'bitter vets' are also threatening to unsub as well.

Yep this is a recurring anxiety among the 'core' (who are not mainstream) players, deeply regrettable for anyone who wants evolution in the game.

Clearly, if things remained the same then eve will become so niche it wont really matter. CCP wont matter. Anyway i don't want to fear monger, development understand this better than me, they have all the industry metrics and will act.

So there has been what, two dozen, maybe, people that openly proclaimed on the forums they are unsubbing? I actually had some free time this weekend to play. So I thought I would take a tour around high sec and do you know what I saw? Hulks in the belts and Mackinaws nom noming on some ice.

Yes, yes Hulkaggedon had an initial effect (over 5000 Hulks dead - nice!), but now it seems to be dying down. Even today, a Sunday, I regularly F5'd the Hulkagoon Killboard and watched as there would be two to three T2 exumers killed an hour. It was like this the majority of the day. This of course is the side effect of gankers losing interest with it. Eventually losing too much sec status and crawling back to the safety of null power block blankets. In a way, by making it an endless Hulkaggedon, The Mittani has diminished what the event was. No longer is it an event that happens once or twice a year that players can look forward to or save up sec status for. Gone are the unique prizes and friendly races to see who can achieve them first. No, now we have a standard, nothing super special quest to turn in, like WoW or something of the sort.

I was a bit amused running around to different ganker systems with a full blown tanked Hulk. Ah the ganker tears and rage. Big smile

Anyways, back to the so called massive amounts of high sec bleating forum warriors. Yeah that is completely exaggerated. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Sure, but will CCP introduce a counter for emoting?
