Weird probing issues with radar sites

So ive been scanning radar sites in highsec just for some isk.

And ive been having some issues. The main problem is i can get a site to around 24% at 8au, I rescan again at 8au and the position of the signal does not change as well as the sig strength stays the same.

So then i drop the probe strength down to 4au, centre in probes and suddenly the signal is gone? Then i space out probes more, still at 4au and manage to pick up a little red sphere in my centre probe, so i pull probes back in so they are all inside the smaller red sphere, rescan, and its gone again....

My probe strength is ~86, so its decent, i have all my astrometric skills at 3 and astrometrics at 4. i use seven probes, 4 around the centre probe, 1 top and 1 bottom. Im using a magnate with amarr frig at V, 20% scan strength bonus from rigs. Core probe launcher and sisters core scanner probes.

I used to ninja salvage and i've scanned down hundreds of ships with ease. What is wrong with these sites?

It's your scan filters. Open up scanning settings and check off all site types -- like magic, they now properly identify by type at or above 25%.

Hold on - I have a filter setup just for Radar sites. So your saying I need to have ALL cosmic sig's checked for it to work properly?

Nothing gets filtered out unless the type is known, so technically your filter could work -- but only at/above 25%. If you're losing sites it just means they weren't radars after all, but sine that wasn't known until 25% they weren't filtered out until then. Or in sum, don't bother with the worthless filters. They won't help you narrow anything any faster and they'll make you jumpy and paranoid about losing sigs.

Basically the built in filter is a bit "meh." It does its job, but you have to be 100% confident in you probing abilities to actually trust it. Allow me to elaborate:

I decide I want to find only radars. I create a filter for radars. When I get a sig past 25%, it disappears. Theoretically, this would mean that the site was not a radar and I should move on. Unfortunately, if your probing is not so great, you may simply have just lost the signature and thus it disappeared.

Basically, if you are looking for any specific type of signature, you should set up a signature only filter. Have all types of signatures checked and manually filter them by using the "ignore result" feature.
