Minmatar ship size changes

The Rifter/variants and Stabber/variants are simply too large. 130m long axis for the Rifter? That's nuts. That's almost double it's current length, and honestly I'm having difficulty believing that either of these ships are going to be capable of the speeds they're pulling off; with the increased sizes they just seem heavier, and this is kind of immersion-breaking in my opinion. Yes, I'm cool with increasing their size, but the factor that they've been done so by is just ridiculous. I could totally believe a 74 meter long Rifter and a 250 meter long Stabber.

Why are the ships being scaled up, anyways? Does anyone have any info on that?

You're better off just thinking "bigger is better!" and focusing on how cool they look. Every ship in eve breaks down if you look too closely at its size and dimensions. Take the smaller of the two Amarr haulers, the Sigil, for instance. With max skills and T2 rigs and cargo expanders it can haul right around 20,000 m3 of cargo. Seems like a lot until you start thinking about it. A sphere with a diameter of 34 meters has a volume of right around 20,000 cubic meters. 34 meters in diameter. The length of the ship is 470 meters! Our 34 meter sphere is miniscule compared to the bulk of the ship. In fact, all 20,000 m3 could almost fit in the small forward gondola that hangs down from the front of the ship. So much for immersion, eh?

Almost every ship in the game starts to break down in the immersion department if you start looking at it too closely. Stick with "It looks cool!" and forget about how big they're supposed to be. The science part of our favorite sci-fi simulator universe is really really bad if you think about it too much. Enjoy it for what it is.

Its sad but true, Eve is wildly inconsistent with graphical sizes, listed sizes and most other science bits that they decided to put in there.

however, this behavior is also sadly very consistent with EVE in general.

Its not possible to please all the people all the time, but it sure as hell is possible to Displease all the people, most of the time.

I like the changes. The rifter looked silly with guns on it before, now they look a bit more to scale.

Aye, the size increase serves the Rifter well I think. If you noticed the hardpoints on the rear wings, the base of projectiles were too large and would stick out. Not a problem now that the Rifter is bigger.

Of course, this is a problem that isn't limited to just projectiles or to just the Rifter, but that's an entirely different issue.

no there not.

compare them to the other frigs in game. the rifter is now twice as long as the punisher.
you'd have to increase the size of all frigs.
how can minmatar frigs have the smallest sig radius and be overly big?

i went quickly through all the frig sizes and the minnie frigs are by far the biggest.
even the reaper is 20m longer than a punisher and 3m longer then the incursus
the incursus has got this big spike in the front.

overall not consistent.

Well for appreance sake, I think a mid point would be good - between old and new size the mid point would be a good size imho.

the old the weapons where too big, new the weapons look too small and it's the size of a thrasher... if the old was "1" and the new lets say is "1.5" then scale it to "1.25" and it should at least look correct...
