So, I did the resculpt yesterday and opted not to change my skin tone.

In game, my character portrait looks how it should, without the tone changed. However the in game avatar, and forum use a new much more fair complexion that I did not intend.

The portrait used in the forums is how she appears post-resculpt, yet my portrait in game still shows how I intended her to be (freckles yes, pale skin no)

You can see the in game portrait here: http://imgur.com/YTBHc

Please compare them side to side to see the difference.

If it comes down to an issue of being I have to stick with this, then fine, but people should know what the skin tone change will be, and I definitely did not select that one.

Also evidenced by this screenshot: http://imgur.com/jVwSx Notice the difference between her ingame color, and the portrait color. Someone want to explain that one to me?

I had a similar issue. I entered the resculpting mode and did only change the character's facial features. The skin tone, hair color and everything else was not changed (To be precise I did change around the colors a little but always reverted to the original state by going back to the first point in the history bar). When I took my portrait, both skin and hair looked as before, but after I accepted the changes, my ingame portrait (and the character itself) had a different hair color and skin tone (the first of their respective lists).

To me it looks like these colors defaulted to some value because the old colors weren't available any more. This would have been fine as long as I could actually see this would happen, but I couldn't.

Well it should be fine when we've been promised that we can keep the old colors if we don't change them Pirate

Yes, I want to explain.
There is a bug in the history slider. This bug has probably been there from the beginning, but I have never heard of these problems before the skin color change, and all of a sudden there are a few of you. I think the reason is that people are using the history slider differently than before, that is, they are testing one color, then going back, then testing another one, and going back again, and that get's the data in a bad state.
Anyways, it took me a while to find what the issue was, but when I had, it was a one-line-of-code fix, and I'm hoping it will go out to TQ either tomorrow or Friday.

And since I told people they could keep their old skin color, I've been manually fixing characters, one by one (as you can see now, vanillacherry has her old color again)

So PinkKnife and James, could you please file a bugreport on this (just so I have some papertrail) and say it should go to me. If you really, really want your old skin color back, I can get it back for you, but if you don't care either way, just want some other color, I can give you a new resculpt and you can fix the issues yourself. So if you could state in the bugreport if you want old color or resculpt that would be great Smile

True, it should be fine. I promised you could keep your old colors, and that's why I have been doing what I can to get people their old skin color back.

Thank you very much. This is awesome. I'll file a bug report right now.

EDIT: It seems you have already changed my skin color back. Thanks again!
My bug report showed a login error when I tried to send it, but now I don't need to. Perhaps there is a bug in the bug report window? (oh my god how do I report this? Blink ) Or perhaps I was just stupid when entering my password. If you get one (or two) of my bug reports anyway please ignore them. But in this case there would be something wrong with the bug report window.

I haven't done anything to your character yet, but if you are happy with it now then great Big smile
I couldn't find your bugreport, but I guess it's not needed now?

Hm. This is strange. Can you revert my character by hand just to be sure? Perhaps I got too accustomed to my new skin color already. Or the new patch somehow fixed the problem. I still can not file a bug report though. It keeps telling me that there is a login error. Even though I use the same password I just logged in with. I tried several times to no avail.

Submitted mine sometime last night (US time zone), did not get a login error ...so I'm not sure what is up with the other people.

Thanks for the bugreport, I saw it, but I don't think I had acted on it yet... I was fixing a few characters and then downtime happened and then I was busy with playtests and other stuff. I'll fix it on Monday Smile

Is this related to the odd issue I ran across on SiSi?

In trying out skin tones on Alain (did find one that worked better btw - thanks), I had accidentally set the 'scars' setting higher. But for some reason I was unable to grab it again to revert; It would instead rotate the character.

I eventually gave up and dumped out without saving. This was just before the first Inferno rollout so it may be fixed already. If not, I'll give it another try and report if needed.

This is most likely another issue where if you pick 2 options fast, so the first pick is never loaded on the character, it does not create a bit in the history slider. First I thought that was causing the skin color issue, but it was somthing else.

The skin color issue (which was actually not just skin color, but that is just very obvious) was quite strange because the character looked like you wanted it, but then when you saved it and it was rendered by the server, it was not the same dude you thought you had saved.
This happened if you made some change, went one bit back in the history slider, made a skin color change, then went one back again and then you moved on to change something else, that is, you didn't change the skin color again.

But please file a bugreport on your issue Smile

I now filed my bug report. Had to use the out of game bug report tool (I didn't even know there was one before). My ingame bug report tool still doesn't work. I created a thread in the issues and workarounds forum for that problem.

Anyway. Hope my skin color can now be fixed. Thanks karkur for being so active on the forums. I really appreciate thatAttention

Oops. I got busy with other stuff and forgot to change you. I can't fint your bug report, could you find its ID for me (it might have been filtered already).
Did you include a picture of your character before? It might be useful if you could attach a picture if you have one.
