Issues, Workarounds & Localization

So I was going about my business, playing EVE, until I logged off. Steam recommended that I update my GPU drivers so I thought 'well, this can only be beneficial' so I went ahead and did so.

To my horror, when I went back on EVE, all textures are warped and you can't make out a single object. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling new drivers but that didn't help. I even tried a system restore to a point where I think I installed the drivers, that also didn't help.

I bought EVE through Steam and when I download it, I receive the Incarna version, which seems to work fine when I look at the main screen. However, when I download the Inferno patch, everything goes to hell, and Steam tells me all 599 files are unverified and need to be redownloaded. This is weird as Incarna version says all files are verified.

I'm thinking Steam has broke the game somehow. Anyway, here are a couple of pictures to show what I mean, if anyone knows what's causing this error, please let me know.
