Thank you Hilmar, very eloquent blog entry. I'm very glad that CCP is taking the feedback from players constructively and now recognizing how important that conversation will be to EVE's future.

Wow...... just.... wow.

Thank you CCP Hellmar. Thank you for your strength, thank you for sharing your feelings, and most of all thank you for putting the best MMO in the universe back on the right tracks.

Please ignore all the negative ramblings, they're just children who do not understand the value and power of someone admitting to their mistakes.

You now have my full support and faith, and I'm changing my subscriptions back to yearly on all accounts.

We underestimated our development time, set impractical or misleading expectations, and added insult to injury by removing something in which players were emotionally invested.

For me it was never the loss something i had emotional attachment to, it was simply taking away something that worked and sticking users with with something that was broken and made anything but high end computers fall to their knees, then sticking anyone that can't run it with an image of an ugly door.

Good to see Hellmar admit the mistakes with the recent updates though, this and the new changes on TQ have mostly restored my faith in CCP and my wanting to play eve again.

Good first step down a long road, Hellmar. Stay the course and we'll be with you every step of the way.

Looking forward to the follow on where you detail how you're going to commit to the new path. Please believe that we still wish you every success, and that all we've ever wanted was to sincerely help you make EVE the flagship of the entire MMO community. As I still believe it should be.

As I still believe it can be.

You said you were going to watch what we did. I know what you were thinking when you wrote those words, but let me recast them for you in another way. EVE is a sandbox, In the MMO world, EVE should stand for community, for partnership between players and developers, for continual evolution, for the greatest social experiment in gaming history.

Give us the opportunity to work with you, give us the tools to reshape this gorgeous, vicious, intriguing, unparalleled universe and then, by God, watch what we do with them.

On one hand, "Wow, they will do what some players have been asking for years"

On the other hand, they will not do anything for me, not even cut down those bloody ludicrous NEx prices. No new Solo PvE content. No Solo/Casual endgame content. Nothing. Do the same that was doable 3 years ago (well, minus Lvl5, plus the five epic arcs).

I guess that here I am in the wrong side of "you can't please everybody", but nonetheless it's my 340 euros a year, some 800 € since i began playing EVE, and fixing the troubles of nullsec bitchers it's not worth that kind of money.

They will complete what you are after also, that just will take more time. Things what got top priority are the ones which were long overdue. The big picture will be ready when all the small pixels have been painted and organized to perfection.

Hmm, well I wrote a long reply, hit post and it disappeared. To summarise cos I'm not typing it all again:

I love the high quality player-developer interaction you can get in EVE and nowhere else, and I'm impressed by the way CCP have responded since the release of Incarna. The letter was great and inspirational, and here's hoping you guys can find your feet and make some real solid improvements to the game we all love.

Thank you Himar

It takes a big man to admit failure.

Incarna is a great idea, but how it was rolled out, and seamingly focusing exclusively on it, lacking as it was and is, almost killed my confidence in you and CCP.

I've invested 7, soon to be 8 years in this game. and its hard to imagine a life without eve, but i had began thinking about it.

My confidence is renewed. But for the love og God remember the 3 C's: Communication, Communication and Communication

And they say wow players are immature well eve player sure showed they can be worse.

Hilmar, thank you for your honesty, courage in writing this, and your candor, but I must judge people and business alike by the same standard. I must look at your actions and behavior, and not by what is said.

I will admit that this is a refreshing change of tone considering what has been said and done in the past. The path to restoring faith has been started, and I sincerely hope that you and everyone at CCP will live up to what was started with this letter.

I look forward to seeing the actions that this change in direction, if sincere, brings with it.

I must admit that I'm very impressed with the new Communication Officer (or however you call him/her), this blog is a very good example of proper communication skills. It follows all the basic rules of a public speech, it touches hearts, it provides hope, it leaves room for interpretation, it reveals a little insight on future changes, the "one good, one bad" script was applied correctly, but you know what Mr. CEO of CCP? You are still full of it! Acting all emphatic and humble like you suddenly grew feelings for the player base and it's needs. Maybe you can fool a lot of ppl with your new "look" but some of us and most important, YOU know that it's all business.

Respect for a CEO with balls! What a refreshing honesty in a world of 'corp marketing communicators' and the common other liars these days, who still think, anybody would believe them just a word.

For me changes contain always opportunities and hopes.
"... hired experienced industry professionals for key leadership positions..."
I do hope, CCP really hires people who can stand behind the players interests. I do hope CCP really stays independend and isn't undercut by certain groups who have their own opinions.
And I'm also looking forward to get rid of that feeling, employees of CCP would participate in regular combats and wars by godmoding, 'just because they can'.
