Carebear-Ganker Hatred is How Eve Thrives

Edit: Two sides. Both thinks the other sucks.

We have the highsec mission runners and miners, and then we have the suicide gankers, pirates, scammers, and PvP'ers. Two parties at the opposite ends of the spectrum.

We've seen hypocritical, radical comments and mudslinging from both sides, how the other side will most certainly be the death of Eve.

Yet through all this preachings of the death of the game and unsubbing, this conflict is how the Eve community thrives.

I used to be, and judging from my lack of PvP thus far, still a carebear. But it is the ever-persistent threat of danger that has brought me back to Eve three times now.

Infinite Hulkageddon, suicide ganking, mission ambushing, AFK cloaking, it matters not. Both sides of this fight will see victories and defeats on both sides, development-wise. Highsec capsuleers cry foul at a well-known suicide ganker being elected, but I'm certain we've had a carebear or two on the board in the history of the CSM. The mudslinging and rage threads will continue unabated until Tranquility is shut down forever.

Just my perspective. Fly safe. Or heedlessly into a gatecamp. Play your way.

Earlier today, the Dixon Mining Guild and the Butz Manufacturing Corporation formed a coalition.

It's hard to tell if there is a light at the end of the tunnel for the Dixon-Butz Alliance.

Should I just erase the part of that post, so this thread doesn't turn into how our government sucks? I know it does.

Done and done. Maybe now we can turn up the intelligence in here a few notches, lol.

Good post aside from the democracy stuff which is a total illusion, your vote is ignored while politicians are bought up by vested interests.

Back on topic, Eve needs conflict to work and there has always been a tension between high and null sec, though its arguable that the true survivors are lowsec dwellers who have the worst of all worlds. Highsec has Concord and Nullsec has the Alliances to police their areas making both relatively safe, Lowsec has the problem of all the sec hits, gate guns etc which makes it the most difficult place to get by.

Agreed. I'm sure most of us as rookies thought it slowly got harder as the sec status went down. Rat-wise that's true, but I'm among the group of players that just doesn't fully understand lowsec yet. I've not even dabbled in FW yet.

I guess the hard part is the uncertainty. In nullsec (assuming you're NBSI) its pretty obvious who are friendly. In highsec it's pretty safe if you're vigilant and don't make yourself a target, but as in nullsec expect a loss from time to time.

In lowsec everything is uncertain and that is the thing you have to deal with, anyone could potentially be an enemy but could also be a potential friend. It's a very interesting place if you can make a home there.

I'd guess lowsec is more home to pirates and ransomers.

Not really. Losec is home to anyone that want to venture into the unknown, same with null, but it is up to you what you make of it.

Your perspective is only relevant in high sec. There is much more than two sides, but you'll never realize this.

the american system is a great analogy to eve except for the best alliance structure being a communist one.

Basically it's the cold war all over again: capitalist police state full of people who get their news from jersey shore on one side, glorious communist motherland on the other side.

Not really communist but just as like US they tend to think their opinions are the only good ones and everyone should think like them, and this is everything but democracy and freedom spirit Lol
