MIssion running - which ship to choose

Hello everyone,
I am usually running missions in my megathron (without tech 2 railguns). I am still novice at this. Got some skill points in gunnery (2.7m), which help me to make around 410 dps without drones. I dont own any faction stuff, but have some isk flowing here and there. I get used to sniping in mega but still it gets on my nerve when i cannot output my full dps due to lacking range or just being out of optimal range for my rails and ammo.
Usually im making missions for income which includes bounty prices and some LP converting.

And now im wondering if getting into Raven and training some missiles skill can improve my income ? how is the Raven compared to Mega ? Or should i just jump into Tengu like everyone every-post says ?

Get your gal battleship skill to at least 4

More skills in gunnery will always help. Try and get the shpport skilsl to at least L4

Don't overtank your ship...try to at least get 2-3 damage mods on. Same for range mods. There's no reason for you to be out of range with large railguns. Shocked

Make sure your support skills are up to par....tanking, capacitor, navigation, all that jazz. It really does help.

You could also give a sentry dominix a try, if you've trained your drone skills. They have ridiculously good damage projection.

You do not want to train some missile skills and fly a Raven. This is a recipe for disappointment.

You either need to invest heavily into missile skills (support skills to 4 at least) ... or stick with guns.

I will second this because it is very important to understand. You can not half-ass missile skills or shield skills in a Raven. It is a very capable PVE ship with the correct skills.

Thank You for your advices.
I am at step when i got all support (for rails) gunnery skills at 4, Large Hybrids at V and Gallene Bs at IV also.
I am always fitting 2 magstabs and 4 specific hardeners. Maybe getting navy mega will give me that extra low slot for another magstab.

Shall i train for Kronos as first or railguns tech 2 as first ?

T2 rails first.

Also, you could give the hyperion a try. Same dps output and rep bonuses as the kronos, through without the tracking or webs. It's faster than the mega if you can fly it. (the odd slot layout makes this a challenge sometimes)

I'd say go for tech 2 first.

Marauders are fairly ... situational. You migh want to crosstrain into Winmatar instead, which will give you the Vindicator, and once you've trained projectile skills, the Machariel.

I would advise you to continue with your current training path.
Crosstraining into caldari is very well possible, but it is going to take a long time since you will have to start training all the missile skills and caldari ship skills from scratch.

You would indeed be best off training for tech 2 railguns first, and then onto the kronos. I have flown a kronos quite regularly and its arguably the best megathron hull for mission running.
That said, the navy issue megathron is a very solid choice as well, since it allows you to take a set of sentry drones and has an extra lowslot and more fitting space.

Also a sentry dominix is very good, if you have trained for tech 2 sentries.

IMHO, stick with guns. In the mid-tier of mission ships, missile ships (i.e. CNR, Tengu) are pretty swell, but past that, the gun ships dominate in effectiveness (Vargur, Machariel, Nightmare, and even the Kronos.) Meaning, in the time it would take you to train up your missile skills, you might as well train for the Kronos. Plus, your gunnery support skills will carry over if you cross train into the Vargar/Mach/Nightmare.
