Using a Caracal for lvl 3 missions

Hey, I was just wondering about the practicality of using a caracal for lvl 3 sec missions. Currently at 5 mill SP. Should i just keep running lvl 2 till i can afford a drake or ?

Caracal for Level 3s is more likely than not going to be an expensive lesson.
With good skills, one could do level 3s with a caracal navy issue with some success. Even then, youd be better off in a drake.

the easer ones you may get done but i wouldn't bother.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Typical progression for newer players and missioning:

lvl 1 - sometimes frigate, but mostly destroyer
lvl 2 - sometimes destroyer, but mostly cruiser
lvl 3 - BC (you might get away with a cruiser for some, but usually you need rather good skills to do so)
lvl 4 - BS

Eventually you train tech II and tech III ships. But even then a BS is most efficient for level 4s and really once you are doing level 4s it makes less sense to run level 3s. The above may change with ship rebalancing and tiericide. But at the pace that is going now it could be years before a noobie skilled Cruiser is regularly capable of running a level 3. And even then it will probably be better to use a BC for them still, faster completion time and more buffer for safety.

So yes keep on level 2s in the Caracal til you can afford and train (and I usually don't say this Shocked) a drake.Lol

5m sp? if thats combat focused youll be in a t2 tengu in another 40 days or so. if not a fully t2 drake at that SP soon which can easily do l4s and blast any l3 out of the water.

It can be done, but with good skills and horrible efficiency. I've done an L4 in a Bellicose, Rifter but it took ages (even longer with the Belli cause I used a cap-booster fit)

Just follow advice above.

I don't understand. I have 4,5m SP now, and i was doing L4 missions in a SNI when I got 1.5mil SP. I parked my caracal after I did the jump to L3 in a drake, and now i'm using it as a missile destroyer to support frig gangs.

So, yes, you can do L3 in a caracal (if you don't get webbed) but it will be better for you do do them in a drake. Faster and safer.
