All these 'solo' vs. 'multi-player' threads are just dumb.

There is just EVE. Either you get it or you don't.

Try the X3 series, its a space simulator similar to eve but solo, good game for waiting on ccp to expand solo content.

X3 is a totally awful game. I mean it's just terrible.

You can play solo, with others. That is to say, you do your own thing and occasionally dip into group content and join others to do stuff. In fact that is what most people do.

I just want to confirm that extroverts always step on introverts' toes. It's the nature of being outgoing. It cramps the styles of the brooding loners.

That being said how is an extrovert supposed to play Eve his or her way if the extrovert can't occasionally step on the introvert's toes?

I mean the extrovert's entire playstyle is social!

This "I'm entitled to play my way so don't try to stop me" attitude that's become so prevalent is really a pretty slippery slope.

Really? Don't try to be social with the introverts?

The natural response is, "No, you."

What I do doesn't require anybody else. I sell guns. I kinda enjoy selling guns to people that want to blow each other up. I am amused by their actions and get a smug satisfaction that I helped that person blow up somebody else. Well whoever wins I feel that way, cause I just sold both of them their weapons, and I got their ISK Twisted

So if you don't require anybody else who do you sell your guns to?

Curious.

Almost nothing is friendly in EVE.
The first thing player must to learn here is how not to be double-crossed.
The rest is normal.

Correction. You either play Eve or you don't.

Solo and EvE... oxymoron.

Whatever you do you WILL interact with other players, even just to sell your loot / manufactured items / whatever.

What "soloers" do is to play an immense and lively universe where NPCs have human AI.

Also, define "introvert soloer". I used to be in a much friendly PvP low sec / 0.0 corp but one day RL took over. Since then I am the guy who lives at the door sill, looking at the others partying and having fun inside. Sometimes some of them looks at me and gives me a little saucer of cake.

It sucks, but it's still better than being in the middle of the road, alone in the snow.

The social nerd.

So there are scared nerds, and then there are social nerds. What separates the two, confidence? How is being an introvert related to being a nerd or ones confidence.

I stand by my statement... you sir, are an idiot ;)

I have, quite honestly, absolutely no idea what *any* of you are talking about. I've been basically playing solo since I started eve. I made friends, and I'm a very social person, but I *fly* solo 90% of the time. And I've seen a metric buttload of Eve's content, without needing to rely on others. To put things into perspective, hear my story:

I started out eve when I read about the Apocrypha expansion. I decided I wanted to explore w-space, and I was going to get into Eve exclusively for that goal. So I read and developed a training plan to get myself there. I did seek help in game via noobchat or just asking people, but I played solo.

About a month in, I joined Suddenly Ninjas and started ninja salvaging, as a way to familiarize myself with scanning from the get go. Additionally, this got me comfortable with covert ops ships, staring at scan probes for hours on end, and generally moving around in areas where I shouldn't be. I did this on and off for about 6-7 months while I got my skills trained.

Around the 5th month, I started doing Class 1 and Class 2 day trips. I used a horrible passive tanked Hurricane, and the going was extremely slow. Still, I made headway. Another month or two saw me fieldiing much more powerful tank, and pretty soon I switched to an active tanked cyclone. When I was ready, I left Suddenly Ninjas and started my own corp.

Barely 6 months after joining eve, I launched a medium minmatar POS in a class 2 system. 2 months later, I upgraded to a Large caldari POS, and redesigned my defenses around a "dickstar" method. Another 3-4 months and I could field a Loki. I designed a fitting that could solo most class 3 stuff, on a "budget" of 600 million. I started using my C3 static for daytrips in my Loki.

Unfortunately, w-space tends to get to you after a while. It's like, you absolutely love it, but the complete lack of other players starts to wear on you. I'm a solo player, but I still strive for human contact, if for nothing else than competition. I stayed out there for almost a year, and eventually I took on a partner from my days of ninjaing. But then IRL problems began to distract me, and I couldn't manage the fuel runs anymore, so I shut it down. After that, I took a long break from eve.

I just recently came back, and once again I'm doing solo work. This time I'm going around in a cloaky ship doing lowsec exploration. It allows me to do my thing, while still remaining close enough to help out some friends I got to give the game a try. On top of that, the knowledge I'm gaining in lowsec is proving quite useful, and I've begun to practice PvPing with some throwaway ships in lowsec.

And I'm just one of many. Look at any facet of eve, and you can see solo players thriving, in proud defiance is the assumed corporate nature of this game. Solo frigate and interceptor pilots in 0.0. Solo margin traders in highsec. Scammers, griefers, pirates. Miners who make enough money to start funding second accounts, with orcas. Mission runners who fly pimped out bling ships. Industrialists with self owned stations they use for research and production...

I've played other MMOs. Quite a lot of them actually. Every time I reached endgame, I hit a brick wall where I was forced to rely on other players. You need 5 people for that instance. You need 40 people for that. Oh you want to solo? Okay then grind pointlessly for 150 hours and you can get second rate equipment that might compare to what raiders get. You want to trade? That's cool, all the best items are soulbind. Exploration? wtf is that?

You tell me Eve is not solo friendly? To that I say you are WRONG. Eve is the most solo friendly MMO I have ever played. The only caveat is that, like everything else in eve, you must be intelligent and driven to succeed. You must push yourself, or you cannot succeed at anything, solo or otherwise.

Eve is a solo activity due to paranoia. Living under anarchy is a lonely existence. There are plenty of mmos where almost the entire playerbase is group oriented. People form groups when they're not afraid of being ganked by said group.

Pretty much that. Combine a healthy fear of being backstabbed with a lack of accessible group content and you get lots of people playing solo.

CCP won't listen and won't do anything unless you are a part of very vocal extrovert PvP-oriented minority. Too busy developing DUST and pleasing said minority.

So don't forget to make a thread "I'm unsubscribing because ... " before you go - I guess this is the only way to make CCP listen. Their ears are in their pockets.
