Storylines mechanics and few related questions

I'm missioning mostly for the standings rather than the isk, so I'm a sort of 'storyline hunter' but I've had some hard times recently.
I need some advice to make my pve life a bit easier and possibly the time invsted in grinding faction standings being the least that's possible.
Some of the points I need to get claryfied are:

1- I supposed courier missions were a good way to get a storyline. Boring like hell but at least you should have a courier storyline, very easy to run and doable in the same freaking indy ship you used to run the 'normal' missions, so no need to bring around several ships, different fits and all the other stuff needed to run security missions. Talking about L4's they can be also terribly long and sometime risky. Problem here is that I found myself being completely wrong: the first L4 storyline mission I've got, after 16 courier missions all in a row, was an L4 security. How's that?
2- Missioning in fleet and sharing the rewards does not include sharing the standings rewards, but only isk. Only the one who's accepting the mission will get the complete standings boost. Fair enough, makes co-op pretty much worthless. If you can't run L4's yourself you'd better go running L3's solo rather than helping someone able to run L4's
3- Bounties and sec status. I didn't check logs and stuff here but the impression is that if you have someone who's not shooting at things on grid (did I say a salvager?) he won't get anything in terms of said values. If that's correct I shell assume that if someone is spreading the dps less than the other, he will get less. I've also heard that sec-status rewards mechanics changed recently so I'd like someone to give a final word on that
4- Last but not least: that damn counter! I thought I was able to count from 1 to 16 but I've seen I'm probably not. Did more than 20 L2 missions all in a row with a friend, for the same faction, in the same fleet and NOT sharing rewards. None of the two got a storyline. Moved further and did other missions (L3's for the same faction) and I'm still waiting for that storyline. My doubt is that there are things making that counter being restet (declining one of the mission?) but I have no real idea about which they are and even if it's like that at all. I'll be happy to hear I'm completely wrong and that I didn't get the storyline because I was too drunk to remember I've had it

Storylines are all pooled by level and faction, so mission type leading up to one plays no role in which you get.

Only applies to storylines. On normal missions standings (corp and agent) are shared. For storylines, whoever accepted the mission gets the faction boost. The way to coop thus is to have two characters accepting and handing in missions. Then when either gets a storyline, that character will get faction standing.

Honestly I don't recall how this works.

Storylines trigger after 16 missions of the same level for the same faction. Either you got the storyline and don't recall or you switched factions during your run up to 16.

good info there, but about point 1 I think there is some sort of priority or major chance given to the kind of mission you run the most to achieve the storyline. I've been running L3's courier for almost one week and I always had courier missions as storylines (as when I've been running security ones I can hardly recall being given a non-encounter storyline mission).

Still waiting for truth about point 3 and maybe some more confirmation about the counter being never ever reset :)

Only thing off grid fleet member will get is rewards from agent including status increase. Sec Stat and Bounties he must be in the mission firing, at least attacking the ships.

Never tried it but I am pretty sure you can grind up a friends corp status no matter where in the galaxy he is as long as in a fleet together. I think people even provide this service.

Storyline trigger is 16 same faction same agent level missions. Doesn't matter if you leave for 7 months and had done 11 missions you will still have 5 it doesn't reset and there is no reset for Storyline triggers are at least I have never seen it or heard of such a thing.

Hello

Regarding mechanics, can someone tell me how to get a different storyline mission?

Done like 5 to 7 for Caldari State (through Home Guard Corp NPC) and the only mission I got was deliver 8.000xKernite and once 25 Groups of Personnel.

Now, am I just unlucky or do I get to shoot something anytime soon?

(Doing Missions on level 4, never declining a mission so far)

4. The mission counter only tick for the player picked up the mission, so if you and your friend picked up 10 missions each (a total of 20 mission) you still only have done 10 out of 16 missions each to get a storyline.
3. Bounty is shared between fleet members on grid (doesnt matter if they shot or not... i.e. a salvager ship get bounty if its on grid when a NPC die if its in the fleet). for sec status you need to shot on the NPC that dies..... so a pure salvager of logi ship will not get sec status

Right click and 'show transactions' on Corporation in 'standings' section of character sheet to view list of missions completed, will show name, date, time and amount of increase.

Do the same on the Faction to view storyline missions, then cross reference the date and time to see how many missions are completed til next storyline mission offer.

I can't remember if the same thing can be done with the agents, definitely would be a good way to verify the level of the missions showing in Corp and Faction transactions. After viewing the transaction records and you think there's a discrepancy, file a petition. It may take a while to get an answer.

Also check your Eve Mail - notifications tab - agents. I had a storyline mission be offered right at downtime and when I logged back in after DT, there was no mission listed in the journal yet the agent notification was still in the Eve Mail. I petitioned it and the storyline mission was re-offered. Try to remember to delete the agent mail after you accept the mission, that way you won't get confused and wonder if you completed it or not. Can always check transactions for the corp of the agent to see if mission is listed and cross reference that with the mail notice time and date.

Declining a mission doesn't affect the counter, it only tracks completed missions, also if a mission offer has 2 or more parts, each part completed will add to the 'counter', such as the 3-part mission 'Recon' will add 3 missions to the storyline counter.

Storyline missions are a small pool and will be randomly offered, so you may get courier, trade or encounter mission type.

Since you're going for Faction standings, there's faster ways to gain it than doing 16 regular missions to get a storyline mission. Check out the Faction Standing Repair Plan for links of all Event Agents that give Faction standing increase for completing their missions.
