I can understand it on the Kronos.

I puzzles me on the Paladin though. Lasers don't track well up close even with a webbed target.

You are doing something wrong. With pulse lasers and Imperial Navy MF, the Paladin murders everything within web range. Especially with a nice Federation Navy Stasis Webifier on there.

Webbing also helps your drones hit stuff. Spider drones cry when they get webbed down.

Shouldn't they be dead before in pulse MF range?

The depends on how many of them there are. I agree that for most missions a Tachyon Paladin can pop everything at range, but certain things you do in 0.0 will end up with lots of rats close to you (especially Drone anomalies).

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

But with a range bonus on the Paladin there'll be no reason to fit Tachs as you can push your MPL Scorch optimal to a pants wetting 80km. Far better tracking up close and I think IN MF will hit to 30km+

and lvl5s and all angel missions and all those "angelBS and frigs with caldari cruisers" race missions and and and...

factoring in the awsomness of scorch megapulse > tach more often than not including the Paladin. Dunno about Nightmare as sole exception.

The 'Angel BS, w/Caldari Cruiser/Frig' is the Mercenaries faction.

I thought the standard kronos fit used 2x Tracking Computers which made the web pretty much useless.

That's valid as well but I found that with Serpentis they tend to end up close before dying and you lose more time trying to gun down orbiting crap with 2 scripted TCs than with 1 and a 15km web (do get the 15km, not the fed navy 14. There's many Serp npc which orbit at 15). Generally you don't need the increases range from the 2nd TC either for those missions so it's fine that way.

Differs per mission ofcourse.

Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude.

I usually have 2 Tracking comps on my Kronos, too.

But for missions against Angels the Dominiation Webber with bonuses comes in very handy. No matter if blasters or rails.

I would think 90% stasis webifier strength would be a good thing for missioning.

I'm not really complaining as much as I am questioning their reasoning behind putting that bonus on a PvE ship.

Because it's not a pve ship, people pve with but doesn't mean it's a pve ship.

Tengu too was considered as a pve ship until some guys start kicking arses with ^^

100mn ab is a cruiser mod?

According to CCP, marauders actually are pve ships. Can't be bothered to find the post.

You obviously never crossed a pvp blaster Khronos. And no, there's no pve ship in a pvp hardcore sandbox, there's only players and how they decide to use some stuff.
Khronos problem is a matter of balance and worthwhile bonus, but all battleships are on the same row, CCP Ybertirum also stated lately those will probably get special attention.

You don't seem to understand the major issue to use marauders in pvp is their stupid sensor strength that makes them fragile to absolutely every thing including a 2 weeks old players with a multi jammer. This is the major problem you can have with it for pvp.
Now I wouldn't bother using marauders instead of simple battleships for fleet battles, higher dps, higher tank/mobility, fittings, and my alliance would surely reimburse them at 100% even with faction mods, if only those were worthy versus basic battleships.

Use one Republic fleet tracking enhancer and if you use rails use T2 short range ammo (+25% tracking) you should be able to pop absolutely everything including frigs, of course using 2 fed navy or sancha webs imho is a much better investment than tracking computers.

I'm fairly certain short range t2 ammo has a 25% tracking penalty, not bonus....

the superior alternative to flying a marauder is to not fly one

npc alts have no opinions worth consideration

Blasters yes, rails no.

And since the idea was about using rails, T2 short range ammo coupled with 2 faction webs is stil viable option and better imho for pve.
