Leaving Eve forever. Tried putting this in my cancellation reason.

I'm new and can't tell anything about previous sound problems, but FACT the sound of eve is ****. Music keeps playing after turning it out the day before, can not controll the output device (every ****** programm can use this, even evevoice).

The graphis are not that bad, but the ressources they need are to high for the outcome. I am from lol, and they had bigs problems with patches too, but I was really surprised it was at the last and first big patch for me. I expected from a game, which is celebrating 9th anniversary, that implying new functions and updating would go much smoother.

But, I primarly like the new inventory (despite bugs at dropping items at the wrong can in the tree =)).

These are various reasons that can you make eve like less, but these are no reason to quit.

I ask because I have not experienced this nor has anyone I am in contact with, and usualy a memory leak (sound related or not) is fairly universal. I personally keep the sound on in EVE, which puts me in the minority I am sure.

I know three people with the same issue, two of us have the same sound cards (onboard RealTek HD, but different drivers) but one has a completely different chipset. It certainly seems to be a minority issue though from the feedback we've received.

My desktop has Realtek HD audio and it never had this issue. Maybe it is some odd combination of devices that causes this to happen? If that is the case, then I don't think it would necessarily be CCPs fault for not testing every single possible PC configuration.

I have not actually tested to see if their was a memory leak but it would explain the randomness of my current sound issues. I do not use Realtek HD audio products though so my problem may not be the exact same as his problem.

Now had this been a line of code you would have just created a bug in the system. Once you see where the mistake is maybe you will understand a little better why programs are required to update often.

Please do not let my experiences chase you away. You are correct that a once or twice problem is easy to ignore and probably should be. Note that I have been playing for... I forget, six or seven years now. My cancellation is in response to what I perceive as a clear trend that shows no signs of ever improving. They may very well improve at some point. Keep playing until your point is reached. This is a really cool game after all. :)

Anyway OP, I get that having to download patches is frustrating but your lack of experience with other games really can't be blamed on CCP. Releasing patches frequently is actually a sign of a good, attentive game company. Bugs pretty much can't be prevented 100%, everyone reasonable should know this, especially in an MMO.

I have to comment on your choice of computer as well. HOw much did you pay for that 2010 Macbook Pro? 1500-2000$? You could have just as easily gotten a very high quality windows laptop for the same price, and you would not be having gaming issues with it.

For instance, the laptop I just bought for school I just bought on clearance for $1000 (It's, like, $800~ now) and is actually comparable to your primary desktop. Maybe even better. i7 2.23 ghz, GTX560, 8gb ram, all that stuff. In the future, consider buying a Windows Laptop instead of an overpriced, over engineered apple product.

Hm. Poster does troll but the contents of the post seem sincere. Okay, here we go:

I am not entirely certain what you are getting at by saying I just introduced a bug. My best guess is that you are responding to the "not actually tested" portion and the ensuing "theory of cause" portion. If so, you would be correct. I am not quitting because there is a memory leak though, so my guess as to the cause of the bug/s are pretty much irrelevant.

strike

D'oh! I was looking too hard. Their/there. You are correct. Good catch. Here is the difference between myself and CCP: I will make a note to check for phonetic spelling errors in my future posts. I hope that ewe will be understanding of the typo knowing that eye will pay more attention to such silliness in the future. ;)

If only coding errors were as easy to catch as phonetic spelling errors.

Thanks for the purchasing advice but it does not fit for me. If you read some of my other posts in this thread, you will note that I have several computers, one of which is absurd overkill for Eve. I bought the laptop because I need a real Unix based system to take with me while traveling. I am gone for extended periods and I play Eve. There is no reason for a game with the qualities of Eve to not run on such a laptop. I should not have to buy a new laptop every year to play Eve.

I have to agree with the OP, I've been in other mmo's that rarely ever needed any extra 'Patching' done after deploying new content.

History repeats itself and in the case of Eve, that rings so true more often than not.

+1 for the OP.

Jesus christ DMC, you just hate CCP don't you? IF they aren't 100% perfect you are so less than pleased that you seem to think the developers should get on bent knew and lick your feet clean.

I am certain that this is a troll so I am not responding directly to it... however, this is the second time I have been accused of being a bot and I am curious why anyone would think this. I am perfectly real and there are no tears.

Assuming there are bots cancelling real accounts and posting about it, do they actually post real responses to real replies?

What would there be to gain if I were a bot?

Kind of weird.

Hm. There are different levels of "patching'. It is not a case of 100% perfect or 100% crap. Perhaps what he is implying is that while 97% (random number) perfect is what he is used to seeing, what he is seeing with Eve is only 67% (another random number) perfect. Maybe?

For me, it has nothing to do with hating. Why would I stay so long and give so much money to CCP if I hated them? I just wanted to cancel my account today and let them know why I was doing so. The form I was submitting it in either could/would not accept it or it timed out.

My cancellation speaks for itself. They get the feedback that I am not happy spending my money in this manner. My original post was to give them a clearer reason than just, "I am unhappy". I hope this helps you and CCP understand what is going on and why it is going on.

Don't see how you can have problems with EVE graphically. I can get 2-3 FPS with emulated Shader Model 3.0 on my parents ****** netbook.
