Since I've had to disable the sound due to a crippling memory leak introduced in Crucible and never fixed or even responded to, I can sympathise. In fact, the constant serious bug introductions from SiSi to TQ is one of the main reasons I'm leaving too, as well as a few other people. So you're certainly not the only one in this situation.

Apparently CCP are looking to improve the situation with regard to bug reporting and feedback but let's be honest, a certain over-quoted phrase Hilmar used springs to mind again and again. Time will tell.

Interesting. Is this memory leak somehow selective?

I ask because I have not experienced this nor has anyone I am in contact with, and usualy a memory leak (sound related or not) is fairly universal. I personally keep the sound on in EVE, which puts me in the minority I am sure.

Sorry, I couldn't be bothered to read your OP, since it appeared to me as a wall of text.

Regardless, I'd appreciate receiving your stuff.

I would make the standard Update 101 speech that explains why patches that work fine on a test server will often develop bugs when deployed on the main server being hammered by 50k people simultaneously, but it seems you are too busy listening to the sound of your own voice to be bothered by something as inconvenient as facts.

Of course, that doesn't explain the multitude of bugs that were reported months beforehand and were well known before every expansion, yet were never acted upon until unleashed on the main server and enough people raged and threatened to quit about them.

But you seem too busy trolling to be bothered by something as inconvenient as history.

Good luck to you in your next game of choice.

There really is no point in responding to you as you are just making noises from the peanut gallery... but explain to me how sideways warping effects or screwed up sound are impacted by the numbers of clients connected to a server.

I am a professional programmer and have deployed bugs. I am not asking for perfection. I did not quit during the first thousand or so bugs. I quit after I realized that the processes and procedures that allowed the bugs to be deployed were not even being examined. In other words, the same types of bugs will ALWAYS be popping up. I can find things other than buggy MMOs to spend my cash on.

I know three people with the same issue, two of us have the same sound cards (onboard RealTek HD, but different drivers) but one has a completely different chipset. It certainly seems to be a minority issue though from the feedback we've received.

When something is pointed out on the test server, if scheduling allows it should be looked into and fixed asap. However if the bug is relatively minor in a game that receives constant updates such fixes are often relegated to a post release schedule.

What is more often the case is that something NOT discovered during testing on Sisi becomes a big problem, and people begin raging about a lack of quality control. Those people fail to understand how code can behave differently when up under different load conditions.

Does that put things more in perspective for you, or would you rather continue ignoring the main (and very factual) point of my post...

Sounds like this was a disguised whine about the inventory system. Sorry your bots don't work any more. Guess you should biomass your toon.

I tried formatting it but... the formatting options are rather primitive. I did indeed use line breaks and I organized my words and thoughts to make it easier but there is only so much I can do. I felt that the information could be (but surely is not!) important to CCP. Personally, it is not relevant whether or not any of their customers read it.

And no, I am not giving away my stuff. I am not rage quitting. I will check back in a few years and see if anything relevant has changed. It would be nice to "start over" with a large amount of resources.

RealTek can sometimes have some very odd behavior, and unfortunatley they are very commonly found. I hope it gets resolved for you.

I never liked RealTek, I was happy when I bought a sound blaster card to override the onboard. Smile

You make a valid point, good Sir or Madam.

The bizarre thing is, I've never had any issues with RealTek at all. I actually threw away my Sound Blaster card because the RT onboard was so much better for games. The only issue started with the Crucible update, which was even more arcane since (as far as I know) the sound system wasn't touched in any way.

Those crazy computer pixies and the spaghetti code that is EVE. What?

Yeah, it's pretty obvious, but I'm trying really hard not to ride this guy too hard.

Still, it would be interesting to hear what he comes up with if asked what game software titles he has developed, or what software he has had a significant role in developing of any kind that involved 50k people or so all concurrently interacting in hundreds of thousands different ways on a single shard server.

Amazing, you just admitted the reason I am cancelling my accounts and dismissed it as being proper for the industry. "If scheduling allows", "release schedule", "post release schedule", etc. These may be the industry norm, but Eve is the only part of the industry that I ever see since I do not play any other massively multiplayer online games. If this is the state of the industry, then none of them will get my money. I do not accept such a poor experience with other products I buy. I will not accept it here either. Perhaps the industry needs to grow up?

if you spared no expense on your uber desktop gaming machines, because you like to game and all, why would you spend that kind of cash on a Macbook Pro that in comparison in price, you could have bought an alienware laptop? Then you complain about your Macbook Pro performance while gaming, when you do not have a gaming laptop? you buy gaming machines for gaming don't you? and since when does having a gaming machine mean you cannot use said gaming machine for, i don't know, EVERYTHING ELSE you could need to use it for Roll
