Typhoon vs Mackinaw Fleets?

I started just thieving ice ore and came across many 5-10 man fleets of mackinaws and orcas. I simply wasn't screwing enough people over in a reasonable amount of time doing this and then I saw this hukageddon guide involving the use of a typhoon/shock wave charges to wreak havoc on ice mining fleets. It sounds like tons of fun but i have a few questions, thanks in advance.

1. Is a solo typhoon actually capable of doing this?

2. I got 3 accounts i wanted 2 to be typhoon pilots and a neutral for looting and salvaging. Does the area of effect from shock wave charges harm your fleet mates - or your own boat/pod for that matter?

2. One reason i favored the typhoon was the lack of training you actually need to pilot a typhoon and use the shock wave charges (no BS grade gunnery skills). Are there any secondary skills i should use for this? Would gunnery, surgical strike, rapid firing, controlled bursts be of any use to "Energy Pulse Weapons" type shock wave charges?

i will gladly spend more money than what i actually loot from the ships, the idea here is to just ruin more than one persons day than you would with a thrasher or tornado - literally more bang for your buck. In this regard, area of effect and those mackinaw clusters just seem to go hand in hand.

1. Yes absolutely
2. Smartbombs damage everything within their area of effect except the ship using them.
3. Your skills are entirely irrelevant to the damage of smartbombs

That is wrong. You will want Energy Pulse Weapons 5 so that you get the biggest bang for your buck. Plus with 5 you can get more range out of your SBs with TII.

Energy pulse weapons decreases cap usage, and you're going to want to be fitting a cap booster anyway, to work around being neuted out. That said, t2 smart bombs are pretty great.

It decreases cycle time, so you get more bursts off before you pop.
