Mackinaw Fleets are for blowing up.

I started just thieving ice ore and came across many 5-10 man fleets of mackinaws and orcas. I saw this hukageddon guide involving the use of a typhoon/shock wave charges to wreak havoc on ice mining fleets. It sounds like tons of fun but i have a few questions, thanks in advance.

1. Is a solo typhoon actually capable of doing this?

2. I got 3 accounts i wanted 2 to be typhoon pilots and a neutral for looting and salvaging. Does the area of effect from shock wave charges harm your fleet mates - or your own boat/pod for that matter?

2. One reason i favored the typhoon was the lack of training you actually need to pilot a typhoon and use the shock wave charges (no BS grade gunnery skills). Are there any secondary skills i should use for this? Would gunnery, surgical strike, rapid firing, controlled bursts be of any use to "Energy Pulse Weapons" type shock wave charges?

i will gladly spend more money than what i actually loot from the ships, the idea here is to just ruin more than one persons day than you would with a thrasher or tornado - literally more bang for your buck. In this regard, area of effect and those mackinaw clusters just seem to go hand in hand.

1. Yes, if the macks are untanked. I have bombed mackballs with an alt myself. If they have some hardeners and extenders it may take 2. Figure out their fits and put them in an EFT.

2. The smartbombs will harm your fleet members if they are in range. Tank up the neutrals or keep them out of harm's way until you're finished. If your disco-bombers attack simultaneously, or near enough to it, they will also die simultaneously, and won't hit each others' pods.

2. Why do you have a 2nd point 2? Yes, typhoon is the one I picked, but another guy I sometimes ganked with used armageddons. Not much difference between them for this. You'll also want the skills for large cap boosters for sure, and possibly some armor buffer, inertia stabs, warp core stabs, depending on how you want to fit it. Engineering and electronics to make it easier to fit, but no 'gunnery' skills will help your smartbombs other than weapon upgrades which reduces their cpu needs.

Post with your monkey.
