Yesterday, upon the stair,
I met a man who wasn’t there
He wasn’t there again today
I wish, I wish he’d go away...

When I came home last night at three
The man was waiting there for me
But when I looked around the hall
I couldn’t see him there at all!
Go away, go away, don’t you come back any more!
Go away, go away, and please don’t slam the door... (slam!)

Last night I saw upon the stair
A little man who wasn’t there
He wasn’t there again today
Oh, how I wish he’d go away

It's not that big of a problem, move somewhere else to rat etc, make safes, stay aligned. If they're going to make any changes at all to the cloak, it would be to give it a one hour activation timer with no auto-repeat, disabled when hit button a second time. That way, if they're not paying attention at all, you will eventually be able to scan that person down, but if said person is watching a series and just turning it back on every now and then, it'll still work as a deterrent.

Making it so that it's easy to find the person that's cloaking or have some sort of supah anti cloak module would ruin bombers and general cloaky combat tactics. But having every single system in your constellation camped by some retards abusing the buddy program, where they simply log on, and leave that character online 23 hours a day. They're not really a risk of any kind, as they're just cloakies, and can't really do anything by themselves.

It's still a bit aggrevating though to not know if that person has recently come into the system or been there for 20 hours, as you usually have no idea what they're flying.

Cloaking is fine atm really, but it could perhaps do with some element to make it require at least some sort of presence over a very long time. Then again, something like that can easily be worked around with a simple macro tool.

Still, gotta love the people who can't seem to understand how this game is about risk and reward, and being in null has it's risks and it's downsides as it should.

Words of wisdom...Can I be your friend ? Can I follow you on twitter or book in the face ?
Please, tell me you are not that stupid...If you are, you just don't know it therefore you should be happy.

why don't you go rat somewhere else, you guys have like 10 decent ratting grounds, if the cloaker follows he aint afk AMIRITE?

It's not about ratting or any other thing you do in your system. It's about you can't do nothing against. CCP said that every ship has a counter ship. Every tactic has a counter tactic. Counter afk cloaking !

There is a simple counter to afk cloaking. Not flying alone. Having a friend cloaked nearby to gank the guy if he uncloaks near you, etc.

The only reason you can't find a counter to afk cloaking is because you haven't looked.

When I lived in Stain, we had 3 guys in our main system that were always afk cloaked, except when they were not afk and were actively hunting us. It didn't stop us from farming the rats, etc, and every now and then one of them would catch one of our less aware members, and every now and then one of us would catch them. That's what EVE is about.

What I learned from that situation was to never fly alone unless my ship was capable of dealing with whatever they brought and have at least a fair chance at taking one of them down with me if it came to projectiles flying. I also learned the art of teamwork and the sneaky gank. I also fell in love with Stealth Bombers XD.

I won't say you are stupid, but you're not exactly on the Zombie menu either.

I'll make it short cos it seems not everyone has the patience or time to read how many pages a thread has :

Someone afk in my system does not bother me at all. I said it in the very first post "some of us can't play". I can. And I will.
The point is : You can't counter cloaking. Imagine you're in your home and you know someone's there and you can't find him. He will be there as long as he wants, you are not gonna find him. I checked the closet, I looked under the bed as well. Nothing. If Eve is real, get it closer to reality then.

It's your system, you should have advantage over your enemies. You should be able to decloak him with a POS module as I said before. I'd allow to set guns on the gates as well, it's my system, wtf, I place weapons anywhere I want !

And Diablo is fun, doesn't require thinking, just abit of kiting. And a good mouse. Maybe a couple more for backup. And don't forget to lower the volume when one of your cats is sleeping next to the speakers. I did forget. She's still acting weird. Hope she'll be fine soon.

I started playing EVE a little over a month ago then i got D3 when it released. A week ago i was playing my witch doctor when i got bored and logged out. And this is no joke, i logged on to EVE, hopped on my mining toon and started mining Veldspar for about 3 hours.

Its the same reason i stopped playing SWTOR and LOTRO...after all those years of playing D2 back in the day, and several years of WoW it all felt the same. Star Trek Online was actually pretty cool because it had different gameplay. But what led me away from STO was the mass amounts of idiots, pay to win, lots of downtimes and of course EVE. If SWG hadnt died i would still be playing that too, CU (which i wasnt there for) or NGE doesnt matter to me.

STO was pay to win?

Pity, I can remember quite looking forward to that when I first heard of it. Then I heard it was F2P and a bit crap, so I stayed away. I never realised they went pay to win though, I assumed they were trying to support it with merchandise, vanity items and advertising or some such nonsense.

It would have been nice to have another (decent) space ship MMO, even a non-sandbox one. Just for a change.

Except you're not, you said it's made you play Diablo III instead. So clearly you do actually have a problem with it yourself, in spite of all your blustering. The only people who an afk cloaker should truly effect are those who don't pay attention, who afk rat, who run fits fragile to pvp without backup, in short, those who deserve to lose their ship.

I've only ever lost one ratting ship to a gank, and it was my own fault. If I lose another, it's my own fault. I'm fine with this.

By the way, you do have every reason to fear for your supercaps.

I might be getting the terms mixed up, but i think its micro transactions.

You can farm for dilithium but it takes a long time to do it. You can also buy c-points with real money, and buy dilithium to buy 'epic' quality gear. Or you can use the c-points in their store to unlock ships, buy bridge/duty officers (gives you abilities and buffs), and buy a lot of other fluff items.
